[Jamming] Need some help on CLC3200 problem

    Hi ,

I was using a CLC3200 for some weeks, without problem, but in one day all went wrong.
I'm pretty sure it's a coincidence but it occured the day after I've done a color calibration.

It started with a jam on some A3 color printings, and I found a blank A3 smoothly folded in S under the ITB.
after that, the same day, I succeed to print some color A4 but some of them went out with some color displacement. Each color pass was misaligned, regulary, like a rainbow and it was the first time I saw it.
The day after and for the rest of the time, I never succeed to print more pages. I always meet a Jam 0107, a blank sheet staying most of the time at the entrance of the fixing assembly. One time it passed it, jaming just after, but still blank.
Sometime I got some strong distorted and pale content on the sheet I've extracted from the copier.

Does someone have an idea of what's happening ?
Could someone give me some advice to help me to repair ?

PS : The day I met the problem, after I've extracted a sheet and closed the printer parts, I've heard a strong rolling "clac clac clac clac" during 10 seconds. I have never heared it before and it was the only time it did it.

if u are not a tech> call for one

your external secondary transfer roller needs to be checked
    Sec.Trans Ext_.JPG
your fix unit needs inspecting> u could have copy paper wrapped around the upper roller/this will cause poor fixing
these fix unit gears sometime have a rolling>clicking noise

the ITB Drive swing>gear(worn teeth roll over the engage gear) could also have a noise issue ( known issue on this model)

this ITB also needs to be removed > inspected > & cleaned

thank you very much for all those details !!

Just one question for now ...

What do you mean about "checking" the secondary transfert roller ? you're talking about the "external" one pointed on your image ?
I looked at it and it looks like a smooth foam/caoutchouc roller on which there are color residues that stay on my finger if I pass it on ...
I succeed making it roll manually without problem ...

if it rolls easy & sits even on both sides >it 's OK / U can use a slightly damp cloth to clean off

another point> don't forget to remove fix unit to check
the small green release handle on it> supply's spring pressure to close/press rollers to meet & a release pressure for customers to remove paper properly> if they or tech don't release pressure for a jam removal/ paper can wrap around that upper fuser>hen u have a headache

Re: Need some help on CLC3200 problem

          Hey !

I finally achieved to print without hang ! I've bought and changed the secondary roller transfer external and it passed.
Thank you very much for your help Teckat..

I know my next question is not appreciated here but I have some reason to ask.
Can someone help me to get a recent firmware of this machine (CLC3200, IR3200, IR C3200) ?
I would like to have all the handy tools to achieve a complete restauration of this machine, by myself, and if I can't it will sadly go to trash and I will buy something like a inkjet multifounction.

          The reason :
I've bought this copier just before someone send it to destruction.
I've done it because I'm director a little firm and for the moment, not having the budget for leasing or technician maintenance.
          It wasn't printing anymore.
I've spent a lot of time on it, making it progress day after day, cleaning it, tricking it.
For now I have nice B/W printing and 3mm offset on each color.
I deduced sending a proper firmware would be a promising solution because I don't know what has been done on the copier before grabbing it, and because It came without any document except Fiery C1 system CD.

I doubt the firmware would make it stop mis-registering the colors. The machine is old and probably needs the ITB Assembly cleaned or rebuilt. And possibly a bunch of hoops to be jumped through that are listed in another thread. http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ca...placement.html

              what is firmware version--

              Print a Copy of P-Print

              1) Go into Service Mode

              SERVICE MODE-Level 1=
              press Additional Functions Key (once)
press #2 & 8 key at the same time (release both)
then press Additional Functions Key again (release it)

              2) Hit Function

              3) Hit Misc-P

              4) Hit P-Print

              5) Hit OK

                Hi Boog,

I've allready cleaned the ITB, inside and outside, but it was really clean before I attempt.
I've also followed the instructions about home position of the Laser's gears. Unfortunally, all gears were allready on the right position.
I've inspected the gears around the ITB and nothing to notice.
I will try to clean the sensor showned in the post you pointed, but I'm not confident in it (offset is too much mathematical between colors ...)

                Sorry for my buggy english.

Teckat, I've a P-Print I've done the first day I grab this copier.

there is a v90 , but u are ok-/ I only update printers if an extreme issue is apparent for update

so what exactly is your issue --- CQ , ERRORS , JAMS , NOISE ?????

Re: Need some help on CLC3200 problem

                    Hi, thank you Teckat

The only issue for now is displacement of colors. I've no more Jam since i've chaned the secondary roller transfer external.
I don't see any DCON field on my P-Print, whereas I've found :
                    LANG-FR 86.01.

Here's a zoom on the GRID it prints (it's really uniform so I've zoomed on it)
As I've verified, Laser's gears were on the right position ...
Yellow exists, even if it's hard to see it on the picture. Displacement is equal to 2,5mm between black and blue and equal to 2mm between each color.
Lines are straight and parallels, ondulation is due to camera capture.

U always need to print a P PRINT before doing any type of CLEAR

A P Print has all the settings needed to re-input when u clear DCON/
those settings are important to put back into printer--

?? that PG GRID u show > is it in paper feed direction or cross-feed (front to back) ?
also why is the background that dark GRAY Color

PG should have a WHITE Background.

Operation method • Execute this item in the following cases:
If a laser unit was replaced (if the Y, M, C or K unit was replaced or if
                        multiple units were replaced simultaneously)
                        • If the DC controller PCB was replaced
If the DC controller PCB’s RAM was cleared
                        1) Remove all 4 color drum units, and close the front cover.
                        2) Select this item, and press the OK key to execute the operation. The operation
                        stops automatically.

                            Teckat,

Thank you another time for helping me so far.
Thanks to others who bring some points and comments.

First, gray background on PG-6 was due to the camera, it's blank.
And yes I got a service manual.

More interesting, if I understand what you write, if the settings you listed are actually on the default value on my p-print, it means a D-CON reset has happened. (?)
                            It is the case !!
DC-CON is the only reset I've done by my side, but I don't know what has been done before I grabbed the copier.
Although I can print fine in B/W and horrible in colors, I confirm D-CON field is not present in my P-PRINT (I found DATA-CON ? is it the same ?) and not even present in the mode service=copier=function=clear.

But, and thanks to you, I've found the original service label. big thanks for that.

If I understand, entering the values from this paper in front of the settings you listed would help me to restore the copier, isn't it ?

EDIT : Not sure it's revelant but actually, in sevice mode=copier=function=clear menu, I can't find D-CON. The second item is "DC-CON" but the first one is "ERR". Should I usually find D-CON in place of this "ERR" ? Does it mean there's a ERRor with it and could it be the reason I can not find it nowhere on the P-PRINT ?
