c5035 light Magenta on one side

On a PG-5 (magenta only) there is about a 3" area (rear side I think) that is gradually lighter in the paper feed direction. I replaced the M drum and it took care of 80% of the problem but it's still noticeable.

I'm fairly new to this series so I was wondering if this is common problem on these models. I was thinking of replacing the M dev assm and/or primary charge roller next.

    Any other suggestions?

Pre-Exposure LED not lighting for one process assembly, in this case it was Magenta.

This can bee seen with the process assembly cover removed and front door switch cheated.

Each process assembly uses 2 LED's one in the front and one in the rear, they are in series with each other which means when one goes out neither one will work. The LED can be checked using a volt meter set on the Diode mode, when the leads are correctly set on the contacts of the LED it will illuminate red when good. Another way to check the LED is to swap them with one of the colors to test.

In this case replacement of the front LED was necessary. The LED PCB Assembly part number is FM3-7945-000.

    did u check/inspect the Magenta Developer /

if developer is good / u may have a Laser Issue

print out a PG 10 TEST PRINT & post it here

PG-10's looks ok (can barely tell it's lighter on 1 side) but on a half tone PG-5 it's very noticeable. Customer sees it when printing something that has red - it's more orange on one side. I'll get a scan and post it later today.

Finally got a scan to post. This is a PG-5 magenta only print at 129 density (out of 256).

Originally it was worse than this but when I replaced the M drum it took care of 80% of the problem.

It doesn't look horribly bad, but when the customer runs something with red on across the page, it's more yellow/orange on the one side.
I have not replaced the M developer yet because I was thinking it would be light across the entire copy if it was the dev assm.

        Any thoughts?

Did u inspect or remove theITB M Primary transfer roller position ?
After installing the Primary Transfer Roller (C,M,Y), turn the ITB Sub Pressure Release
Lever to make sure that the Primary Transfer Roller (C,M,Y) moves up and down.
          • After checking, be sure to make the Primary Transfer Roller (C,M,Y) lowered position.

          Laser shutter control
          ●●Purpose
This is to prevent the residue toner from sticking to the dust-prevention glass. Or to prevent the laser light from emitting to the machine inside when the front cover / right cover is opened.

Re: c5035 light Magenta on one side

I have cleaned the laser glass with the tool in the front door and done a function>install>stir-M, but not a Function>cleaning>devl-cln.

I'll stop out later this week and try the dev-cln, inspect the M primary charge roller and run diagnostics, as well as take a closer look at the M dev assm.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll post back with results.

All the posts above are valid. I would also remove the process unit and clean the lasers properly. If it is really bad in there the attached tool wont cut it.

                  Cheers,
