Pixma MX7600 - line on back of copy

I have a customer that has 3 of these MX7600 mfp machines. We don't usually service these but am trying to do them a favor. All 3 of them have this vertical line down the back of the copy. The front of the copy is perfectly fine but the back has this line whether it is a single sided or double sided copy.
See attached example (ignore the horizontal lines, those are folds) Any ideas?

U HAVE INK ON ROLLER
The back side of paper gets smeared.
- Clean the platen rib (clean the paper path with a cotton swab or cloth).

- Confirm that the platen ink absorber fits in place properly.

- Confirm that the paper eject rollers are free from ink
smear.

also check your waste ink pads/may be swelled and touching the paper. The waste ink pads are small sponge like parts located in the purge unit and they clean excess ink from print-heads-
There is very little clearance for these pads and when they swell they will rise up and touch the paper as it passes by the heads. You can order new pads from Canon for it and all of the steps needed to remove and replace the pads come with the new ones.

Clean The Paper Feed Rollers Using The MX7600 Operator Panel

Cleaning the Paper Feed Roller (Roller Cleaning)

Clean the paper feed roller if paper is not fed properly from the Rear Tray or Cassette. Cleaning the paper feed roller will wear the roller, so perform this only when necessary.

Caution

The power cannot be turned off while the machine is sending or receiving a fax, or when there are unsent faxes stored in the machine's memory.

The machine cannot receive faxes when the power is turned off.

If you unplug the power cord, all the documents stored in memory are deleted. Send or print necessary documents before unplugging the power cord.

1=Make sure that the machine is turned on, and then remove any paper from the Rear Tray and Cassette.

2=Clean the paper feed roller.

(1) Press the Menu button.

(2) Use the or button to select Maintenance/settings , then press the OK button.

The Maintenance/settings screen is displayed.

(3) Use the or button to select Maintenance, then press the OK button.

The Maintenance screen is displayed.

(4) Use the or button to select Roller cleaning, then press the OK button.

The confirmation screen is displayed.

(5) Use the or button to select Yes, then press the OK button.

(6) Use the or button to select Rear tray or Cassette, then press the OK button.

The Paper Feed Roller will rotate as it is cleaned.

3=Repeat from (4) to (6) in step 2 twice.

4=Open the Paper Output Tray,and then open the Output Tray Extension.

(1) Press the Open button to open the Paper Output Tray.

(2) Open the Output Tray Extension.

5=Make sure that the paper feed roller stops rotating, then load three sheets of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in portrait orientation in the paper source you cleaned.

6=Repeat from (4) to (6) in step 2 three times.

The paper cleans the paper feed roller as it feeds through the machine.

If the problem is not resolved after cleaning the Rear Tray, turn off the machine, unplug the power cord, and then wipe the paper feed roller (A) located on the right side inside the Rear Tray with a moistened cotton swab or the like. Rotate the roller (A) manually as you clean it. Do not touch the roller with your fingers; rotate it with the cotton swab.
