nOT REALLY A COPIER QUESTION BUT AN LFP

    Hi,

I didn't find an anotyer more specific forum to place my post.

We have CANON IPF 6300 LFP.

It was working ok for more than 2 years with superb quality. We change only one Print head (there are 2) It was expansive but all was OK.

From last week when turning on we receive the message "multisensor Error" In the flowshart for diagnosys thye told us to replace it what we did without any result.

Didi you experiment such problem what is your advise

Error code in log are 03130031 2F32 and 03060A00 2E35

    Thank you in advance.

    First----
It has been found that the adjustment value, after replacing the multi-sensor, will not be stored correctly if the Media was not loaded during the adjustment procedure.

    The correct adjustment procedure:

1)Execute GAP CALIB without the media loaded

    2)Then Load the Media
    3)Execute OPTICAL AXIS

2E35=Paper mismatch (roll paper) No roll paper has been fed when performing internal printing

2F32=Faulty multi-sensor Light quantity adjustment of multi-sensor failed.
Or, outside light entered during multi-sensor light quantity adjustment.
-Retry the adjustment with the effect of outside light, such as that of the afternoon sun, being
    removed.
-Check the position at which the multi-sensor is installed.
    -Replace the multi-sensor

    Second-----inspect Carriage Unit (part # QM3-9930-000)

    added info if needed-
When replacing the carriage unit on the iPF500/600/5000/6000 series the
oil pads and carriage unit rail cleaners need to also be ordered.

The carriage unit does not come with the oil pads, oil pad retainer or carriage unit rail
    cleaners.
The multi-sensor reflection plate should also be replaced when replacing the carriage. Techs have been replacing the carriage unit and not replacing the oil pads, oil pad retainer and cleaning unit holders. When this is done the printer will generate a carriage error again. In the image below the carriage is missing the oil pads, retaining clips and cleaning unit.

In the image below the oil pad, retaining clip and cleaning unit are installed.

In the image below a worn bushing can be seen. This carriage ran for a week
with the oil pads and cleaning units not installed.

Following is a list of part numbers that need to be ordered along with the carriage
assembly. The carriage assembly part number varies by model number.
    QM3-9930-020, Carriage Unit, iPF6350/6300/6300S
    QM3-0784-010, Carriage Unit, iPF6200/6100/6000S
    QM3-0804-010, Carriage Unit, iPF605
    QM4-8091-000, Carriage Unit, iPF6450/6400
    QM3-0647-000, Carriage Unit, iPF500
    QM3-0803-000, Carriage Unit, iPF510
    QM3-0648-010, Carriage Unit, iPF5000
    QM3-0783-000, Carriage Unit, iPF5100

The multi sensor reflection plate varies by model number also.

    QL2-2423-000, Plate, Reflection, Multi-sensor, iPF6350/6300/6300S
    QL2-1561-000, Plate, Reflection, Multi-sensor, iPF6200/6100/6000S/605
    QL2-8032-000, Plate, Reflection, Multi-sensor, iPF6450/6400
    QL2-1561-000, Plate, Reflection, Multi-sensor, IPF500/510/5000/5100

There is an oil pad retainer that is not listed or shown in the parts catalog.
It is a silver ring that holds the oil pad onto the carriage unit. Below is an image
of the retainer. It is the center item in the image below.

The new oil pads come dry. EU-1 oil needs to be applied to the pads before installation. See the EU-1 diagram above. Add oil by dipping a Q-tip in the oil and then apply it onto the oil pad and the cleaner. Do not apply too much oil to the pad, we do not want the oil to drip onto the surface of the printer or paper. The part number for the oil is FY9-6028-000, EU-1 grease/oil.

The oil pads & cleaning pads are the same part numbers for all models listed above.
QC2-0664-000, Oil pad two of these are needed.
QM3-0543-000, Cleaner Unit R, Rail, Carriage.
QM3-0542-000, Cleaner Unit L, Rail, Carriage.

The parts that need to be transferred from the old carriage to the new carriage
    are listed below.

    QC2-0665-000, retainer, oil pad.
The part number to the screw that holds in the cleaner units is
XB6-7300-606, screw, TP, M3x6, two are needed.

      All imagePROGRAF Series printers
      Large Format Printer Tech Tips

      • Unusual noises, smells or leaks?
      • Is Firmware up to date? Use L-Printer Tool to update the iPF and to obtain Status/ Service reports.
      • Is there any air in the ink tubes? All of, half of, one, etc. Used to eliminate possibilities.
      • NOZZLE 1 print out in Service Mode OK? (Resemble tiny Rectangles)
      • NOZZLE PRINT print out in User Mode OK? (Resemble tiny Squares)
      • Head Management Sensor funnel is cleaned of debris.
      • Linear Encoder mounted correctly, damaged, or dirty or protective film attached? Use water to clean.
      • Purge Unit has smooth movement and absorber pads are mounted correctly.
      • It is very rare to have the Head Management go bad, do GAP CALIB and NOZZLE CHK first, check Nozzle Print for misfires.
      • Multi-Sensor
      • Carriage Rail should be clean and with NO lubricant on it. Bushings can be replaced separately on some models.
      • Check Rail Cleaner for contamination and replace if soiled. Supply item, may come with Maintenance Cartridge)
      • Ink Joint at Carriage, linkage motion and proper fit. Test for air leak.
      • Inspect and Re-seat the Flex Cables at Main Board and Carriage. Check for damaged or bent ribbons.

      Adjustments
      • GAP CALIB, NOZZLE CHK POS, OPTICAL AXIS, LF TUNING, CR REG and CR COG adjustments done as needed?
      • Photo-Glossy media is needed for performing OPTICAL AXIS, LF TUNING and CR REG adjustments.
      • Multi-Sensor

      Reminders
      • After board replacement procedure, you must reboot into Service Mode then reboot to clear the error.
      • Do not replace Print Head if NOZZLE PRINT is OK.
      • View and Save Status/ Service reports as .txt files for problem indications and include with your report.
      • Remember to reset the appropriate counter after replacing components.
      • The above may be needed to be confirmed before the Canon DSS can initiate travel plans.

        Hi Tekdat,

thank you for your answer and advises.

I made the gap calibration without paper and it was ok.

I loaded glossy paper and try to make optical axis adjustment, but the pattern it prints is not even and the adjustement give me a multisensor error.

In fact, when I start the printer in normal mode, it cannot end the starting cleaning procedure and it givesgive me a 2F30 error requesting me to switch off and on. If I make it, it begins again to suck ink (a lot) without result .

What do they call discharging unit? Print heads were OK a few days ago just before we got the multisensor error, but now they seem to be clogged. I tried a noozle print (in adjust mode) and the result is really really bad.

Thank you in advance for your help.
