    Canon ImageRunner Advance support TLS?

    Do these support START TLS?

I know that I have never seen a settings for it. I am helping an IT guy out over the phone but I may have to go out their.

They have to move from gmail to their hosted exchange and require TLS. He says they are not allowed to use anything else.

I helped him change port to 587 and had him check few other things. But he gets #752 error.

He wants me to confirm whether it will or will not do TLS.

I have had luck with the Canon iR ADV. series machines scanning using hosted Exchange servers with SSL turned on and setting SMTPTX to 587.

The following Canon devices support TLS encryption Protocol:
      -ALL imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series
      -imageRUNNER 2535 / 2545 / 3225 / 3230 / 3235 / 3245
      -imageRUNNER C1030 / C1030i

587 is ssl is it not and 465 is tls? or vice versa

587 is TLS and 465 is SSL.

Another question. With TLS is the SMTP over SSL option turned on or off.

On. Turn SSL on which should change the port in service mode to 465. Go into service mode and change 465 in SMTPTX to 587.

By chance are they trying to use GoDaddy? If they are Good luck. GoDaddy support told me that they are not set up to support email from a MFP. I had two customers that had to set up gmail accounts for this reason. GoDaddy recently changed something in their servers so customers that where using their SMTP could not any more by a side effect.

Re: Canon ImageRunner Advance support TLS?

                Causes for a #752 are:
SMTP server name or IP not correct
                Server is down
                network is down
domain name or the from email address not configured properly
                blocked or incorrect ports

check the DNS server IP adress
Check the from address. cannot be left blank.
make sure that relay is turned on for the copier in the SMTP server

that's all I got for you for now.

Thanks I also have the list of error codes. I just have to wait til I get out there tomorrow. The IT believes settings are correct but I will have to double check them. I have seen sometimes that I've had to initialize data on these copiers to get the email to work right.

The IT guy didn't know what he was doing. He didn't follow anything I told him on the phone. He said he spent 3 hours trying to make it work and it took me just a few minutes. Gotta love it.

Re: Canon ImageRunner Advance support TLS?

Hi, I have been setting up some Canon ImageRunner Advance Copiers for the company I work for and am having some problems with 2 models. We have iradv 4045,5045 (both of which i setup and work) and then we have 4035 and 2030. I have used the same settings on all of them however the 4035 and 2030 give me a #752 error. I have double and triple checked the settings and I believe they are all correct. We are utilizing the Googgle Apps SMTP-Relay service for scan to email from them. Is there any advice you could give me on what to try now.
These are the settings i have tried-
                        ssl on
smtp auth on with email and password
                        smtp-relay.gmail.com for the smtp server
                        smtptxpn port set to 587

Advice would be appreciated very much.

                        Thank you very much.

I have never used smtp-relay.gmail.com as an SMTP server ever but did you reboot the copier after making changes. On these canon mfp I always have to or it seems the settings never work.

I managed to configure the IR3045 using the smtp-relay.gmail.com (used the IP though), following the instructions on this site:
Set up your on-premise email server for SMTP relay through Google servers If your organization uses Microsoft Exchange or another SMTP service or server, you can set up the SMTP relay servi
