Canon IR 6020i seperation troubles leaving marks on lead edge of page

I can see the paper under the drum bowing up and leaving a little toner on the drum guide. I replaced the sep charger corona's
    but not the transfer corona.
A friend mentioned it was either the charger or the power supply. How can determine which is at fault?

    Thanks

not enough transfer charge, what exact corona assembly did you change? Primary, pre transfer or transfer? If the transfer, when you changed it did you set the wires to the door spec. If they are too far from the paper it will give you that symptom.

High Voltage Transformer PCB Arc issue /check for 24 volts DC at J4501

      or

the high voltage cables for the separation corona and the pre-transfer corona go bad
High Voltage Cable unit is FG6-5057-000

I've had papers go into the cleaner assembly because of this...lol. Drum claws saved the day many times

If you crank up the separation values in service mode and your machine does not work much better, then it could be the HVT or cables.
you should try a different Trans/sep assembly first.
          It could be arcing

Canuck, yes the drum claws are keeping the paper from the cleaning section. They are doing their job.

Vigour, I did try increasing the sep voltage but only went up about 20v. May be I should try a bigger
increase? Meanwhile I will look for another charger.

Thanks for quick reply, it always helps.

              Teckat and Northernlife,
Thank you for the reply, every bit helps.

I will check the wires height for the chargers. It was the sep charger wires that I changed. But this is a good
point. I often over look the wire height. I do check them but not every time I change the coronas.

Teckat, I will check the HV cable assembly for signs of arcing. Usually one can see some white ghosting
on the cable or the frame where the arc is happening. I will look for that connector and check for 24v.

              Thanks again

Re: Canon IR 6020i seperation troubles leaving marks on lead edge of page

sorryto be so long in posting this solution.

It was the pre-transfer charger that had the current leak.

This machine does not display a code for a charger leak. Looking at the circuit
and reading the theory guide. I saw there was a signal for over current that went back
                to the HVT.
I checked the IO-P07 bit 12 and saw that it changed to off when I pressed the start button.
I unplugged the "Q" lead on the HVT and watched the signal did not change. I watched the paper
under the drum and it did not stick to the drum and bow up.
I wiped the loose tone from the bottom of the drum cleaner and the marks on the edge of the page
                went away.

                Hope this helps someone else.

I was gonna suggest running without pre-transfer. They both use AC. I have seen this on 7105. They give an error for sep leakage and its always pre-transfer,rarely sep assembly itself. E068 or something(i know 69 is transfer)

I started on this path after I talked with a friend of mine that works on the Canon IR7105 and that family of machines.
Once he mentioned that I should get a code, I looked through the error code list and there is not a code for charger leaks.
Ya just gotta figure it out.
Good thing I have the manual with the theory.

                    Thanks
