[Error Code] Imagepress C1 E0007 - Fixing Belt Error

My fixing belt finds itself sliding to the non-operator side of the machine after only about 50 copies. I can move it back to center, but it keeps getting off center. Is it time for a new fixing belt, or is there some other adjustment that can be made?

Specific code I get is E0007-003

    Thank You.

    Updated:
I found one of the problems - the spring on the operator side of the fixing belt was broken.
I also found some plastic pieces that apparently fell out of the fixing unit. I did not see them come out, but noticed them on the floor after I tipped the unit back & forth in attempt to cause the missing spring to fall out. One appears to be a black washer of sorts. The other pieces are hard plastic which is a brownish color. There is some debris among the gears on the operator side of the fixing unit. Any idea what these plastic pieces may be?

I had one other question in regards to the fixing belt issue. Would it be advisable to replace both springs at the same time, and also to have a spare set on hand? I'm not sure if these are prone to breaking often.

I'm still trying to find the location of the mysterious pieces in the photo from my previous post. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thank You.

The brown pieces look like they might be from the cover, and the black washer looking piece looks like the rubber from the back side of the cover where the screws hold the cover.

I don't see those clips break that often, but, I would bet your belt unit needs a rebuild. Including the steering roller. Check the bearings and shafts for wear, if any of them are worn it could cause the belt to walk.

        E007 and Fixing Belt Walking

The steering roller bearings are wearing and binding the fixing belt assembly creating this issue.

The following 3 steps should be performed to correct the problem:

        1. Install a 100K QA Kit: F02-5816-000
        2. Install Steering Roller Bearings: Inner Bearing: XG9-0177-000 (2) and Outer Bearing: XG9-0407-000 (2).
        3. When assembling the fixing belt ensure to use the proper amount of oil so the unit does not bind and make noise.

The strength of the 36T Gear will be increased by changing the material from copper to iron.
A Washer (FS5-6488-000) will be added to prevent the 36T Gear from deteriorating the Bearing due to friction from the material change.

Thanks. I did check those items, and they seemed to be OK, but I did find that the the 19T Gear (FU6-0646) was able to spin both ways on it's shaft. Don't know if that may have been related to the problem, but I noticed upon inspection that the shaft was worn down due to the bearings being dried out.

I have been on the road for the last 3 weeks, so I was not able to get to the repairs until now. But, within these last 3 weeks, I was able to acquire an ImagePress C1 for parts. So I replaced the assembly with the worn shaft from the parts copier. I also swapped out the fixing belt assembly and replaced the broken spring. All is fine now.

So just a warning to those who who may hear an annoying squeak from the fixing belt area, check the 19T Gear to see that it is lubricated on the shaft and engages the shaft when rotated only in one direction. That gear also seems to wear out rather quickly, so I bought one to have on hand in an emergency.

          Thanks so much!

I forgot about that gear. It also needs to be spaced from the upper fixing roller gear. I fold a piece of 20lb paper into 4-6 layers, and use that for a spacer to keep the gears from binding. The binding can cause jams.
