We have a Canon ir3035 in the field with the E542-0005. After reading several posts, we ordered the new harness and replaced it. Still same problem. What we did notice is that the trays don't attempt to move at all, even when powering on, the copier just immediately throws the E542-0005. Tech has checked to make sure trays are level.....could it be the controller? Any help is appreciated.

If the fuse is blown, replace the finisher controller. Part number 4G1-1478-050. -

NO MOVEMENT > NO SOUNDS > ?
try checking the Driver PCB Assembly for loose cold solder joints on the PCB connectors./touch up the loose solder joints with a soldering iron
When you running the wiring harness make sure to leave enough slack in the harness to clear the rear left corner of the finisher frame. If you do not, the wiring harness will break as the tray attempts to move.
Tray Drive assembly may become bent or split. This may be caused by the Torque Limiter Spring breaking, and putting too much pressure from the Lift motor to the drive gear. This may cause the Lift gear to become separated from the rack gear, and not properly mesh.
May be necessary to replace the Tray Drive Assembly, and the spring for the Torque Limiter. The Tray Drive Assembly does not have a part number assigned in the Parts Catalog, however the number is available on e-support, Finisher- S1 Parts , Item # 301.
Tray Drive Assembly (Plate Only) 4F3-0259-000
Torque Limiter Spring 4S3-2083-000

Re: ir3035 E542-0005
Change board, harness and motor for the applicable tray in one shot. do not install the board for testing, change all three and be done with it.Comment

Re: ir3035 E542-0005
We have actually changed the board, harness and motor and still having the same problem. Possibly the tech is missing something obvious, looked at it too many times. Is tray 2 different than tray 1, the parts book isn't giving me the information on tray 2. Thats why I just thought we would remove the optional tray 2.Comment
