    IRc-2880 tray lift error

Hi guys, I am new to working on Canon m/c's well since the 90's anyway. I have come across 2 that have had the same issue, tray 1 load paper when the paper is low! Sometimes if I knock the tray it shows paper in ok. When fully loaded seems ok, ie, open tray close tray it sees the paper.
i can't look into the tray to see what is happening. I wondered if this is a known problem and what is the fix? I blew out the sensors best I could, the 1st m/c I replaced the feed unit but I would rather know how to fix it if possible.

    Cheers

I would inspect the flag next, ensure it can rotate correctly. Replace PS21 and PS22 then retest

Cheers V, I will look into that, it seems like the lift sensor might be sticking but it all looks A ok when I took out the feed system.

      will update once solved

Know what you mean - most of the IR series of that era have the same system - I have found lubing the paper dial with a light grease (so it turns freely) & spraying WD40 into the push switches & working them in/out works well.
