    Canon 3380i scanning question

You nice guys helped me a while back with a network problem between my imac and my 3380i my HP scanjet gave up the ghost after 15 years of service, wonder why it would go and do that anyways I was going to try to use my 3380i as a scanner. My mac guy was having trouble getting my mac to work on the network again after the internet guy screwed with the modem/router he ended up having to run an usb line to the copier with some kind of square end on the copier side. I can print all day long, but when I get in scan mode, it says online waiting........... I push the device button, it says check TX & NX network connection, Any Thought? Thanks in advance for any help. Robert Carter. Printer and Sign Maker for 35 years, and it shows.

    Re: Canon 3380i scanning question

if you can put it on the network you can just do scan to file/scan to email and be done with it. on the mac open a terminal and type "ifconfig" to get the network range for the eth0 (I believe) network card. Put the copier at *.*.*.250 (have to put it on an ip that the router is not issuing via dhcp). Then you just need to change the port on the print driver for tcp/ip and install the color network scangear and be done with it. Give this to your mac guy, if he doesn't understand I'd probably get a new mac guy. Get back at me if you have any questions

Can you walk me through this again but slower? it takes me a while to catch on to these kind of things. I installed the scangear on my mac pro and when I go looking for the scanner a list shows up with no scanners on it. I guess the mac isn't recognizing the canon 3380i as a scanner, can you help?
