[Error Code] iRC3170

Hai friends

When trying to copy or print, an abnormal sound is coming (like drive is trying to rotate fast). Suddenly showing the error code E0000012-001.
Please help me to resolve this problem.

Sounds like a faulty drum motor, straight from the service manual;

E012 Drum motor error


0001 Lock of the motor fails to be detected 2
sec or more after the motor starts to
operate.


Check on connection of the connector, Replace the
motor


0002 After rotation of the motor becomes
stable, the motor lock fails (i.e., the
motor becomes unstable) for 500msec
or more.

It is M9 on this machine, you could test it by going into the service mode and run it up, see if you can replicate the noise, but I would be swapping this motor out first then test

The Canon 3170 is a difficult machine, needs constantly cleaning, I would recommend you upgrade to at least an IRC 2380i make you life easy.

Also check developer drive gear, probably find one of the dev units seized.
Pain in the ar*e to sort out!!

Change your drum. I get this all the time on my last 3100. Drum or drum motor
