Canon ir c5051 tray 1 only registers a4

Canon ir c5051 4 tray system, tray 1 only adjusts to a4 when cassette is adjusted to letter, other trays fine. On any other size it just shows blank and says set correct size. The cassette registers and feeds fine as a4 but just won't change sizes unless you use custom size option. Tried adjusting in svc mode, replaced both size sensors and tried another cassette. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there anyone else out there experiencing this same problem? Replaced dc cntrlr still no resolution.

tray 2,3,4 all seeing normal ltr/lgl/11X17 sized papers? If you move the guides in the tray does it see another paper size?

Yes, tray 1 is the only one having trouble. It feeds fine, recognizes paper level and prints to the page just won't recognize anything but a4 at letter size. Messed around with cassette levers and got it to register a3 on 16k setting but thats it. Did a initialize function, cleared error& jam history for the heck of it.

COPIER > OPTION > FNC-SW > MODEL-SZ set to 1?

Edit: Swap the two paper size recognition boards behind tray 1 with those from tray 2 and see if it follows those two size detection boards to tray 2, let's see if it's a board or wiring issue. I am assuming that there's no paper stuck behind tray, stupid question but I gotta ask.

Yep, size set to 1. Actually took switches from another working unit, still same problem. about to switch cassette feed board but was hoping it was something simple before I tear into that.

pickup unit doesn't do size detection, try a physical other tray from another unit and see. If it still does it with the swapped size detect pcb's then you've got a wiring problem/blown dcon. Clip all the lovely tie wraps that they keep putting in their machines.

Did the cassette swap, size switch swap dc con, all mentioned in the thread. replaced cassette feed pcb - problem solved. For those having this problem it is easier to go for the cassette pcb right off to save time and trouble. thanks for the input
