    IR5055 ADF, no detection

    Hi guys
This copier can't detect when a document is placed on the ADF tray. At first I suspected the ADF to be faulty, then I took and fitted another from a working machine and the problem is still on.
I checked all the wires and connectors in the Reader Unit, all looks intact.

Any suggestions please? I beg your help!

Does the pickup roller assembly cycle when you turn on the machine or open and close the top cover?

    Edit with casenote.

    Problem :
Document feeder DADF-M1 seems dead. Copier reconizes there is a document feeder. No messages are indicated on the LCD Display. No DF jam codes or DF error codes show up in the service mode history. All voltage readings check good at J4, J5 and J6 of the DF Driver pcb. LED 101 on DF Driver pcb is flashing normally. Green led does not light up when an original is placed in the DF Tray. Document feeder does not cycle when DF cover is opened then closed. Scan Lamp does light up when document feeder is lifted up then lowered back down to the copy board glass. RCON Clear was done. DF SENS INIT comes up good in service mode. SENS-CNF in service mode is set to 1.

    Solution :
In this case, technician performed Feeder Check in service mode under Feeder > Function and jam code 0095 occurred for the document feeder. The jam code indicates either PI5 (DF Original sensor), PI6 (ADF Cover sensor) or PS501 (ADF Open/Closed #1 sensor in the copier) have malfunctioned. Using service mode Copier > I/O > FEEDER - address P005-bit 7 for PI5 and address P004-bit 0 for PI6 changed state when sensors were blocked and unblocked. Address P001-bit 3 for PS501 did not change state when the sensor was blocked and then unblocked. A faulty PS501 in the copier was the cause of the document feeder DADF-M1 not operating properly.

The Feeder is DADF-S1 which means minor variations of sensor addresses found under I/O in the service mode.
However your explanation quite fits and solved the problem,-very much appreciated.
It was found that the actuator could hardly reach the PS501 due to mechanical disturbance.
