    Canon ImageRunner Hard Drives

I noticed that my problems with these hard drives lie with the machines that have print and fax on them. I have had several bad hard drives and all of them have been on loaded machines. Most of my machines in the field have print and fax. Today, I got a base machine in for a customer and decided to test these 'bad' hard drives. They all worked in the base machine but not on a loaded machine.

Does anyone have any ideas why the hard drives work on a base machine and give the 602 code on a loaded machine?

        simple terms

        1) clone good/working hdd
        2) rewrite to 'new' hdd

do you have any instructions on that. I downloaded a couple of programs acronis and part. magic 8, bought an adapter, but have not yet figured it out. Is it possible to extract the mail boxes etc. without cloning the whole partition. without using the copier to do it. i know how to do that. I still would like to clone. Any help would be appreciated. sounds fun.

I believe the data on the drives is in a propriatory format, so without a bit of hacking/reverse engineering I don't think you could extract that data.

As for why they only play up with fax functionality, it could be that whatever storage area is used for the fax firmware and image data is in an outer part of the drive. So when loading the system software etc it runs fine because they are not stored in the faulty or affected area, but when it tries to access the software/data for the fax functionility it falls over.
No, I will not send you Manuals, Software or your own little repair Genie to fix all your problems for you.
