IR-ADV6055 Department (default)

I have a strange, minor problem.
The department/ID dialog when printing recently changed the default department.
It used to come up as 825, our default department for in house general printing.
It now comes up defaulted to 16, an unused department number.
How it changed I do not know. It happened after doing system maintenance so I repeated the procedures
but the problem prevails.
the printer is an IR-ADV 6055, the computer is a newish iMac (10.9.4) the driver is version 10.2.0 (UDF driver I think)

Any Ideas about what might be wrong?

The department management dialog in the printer control dialog seems to have no effect whatsoever.
Short of reinstalling the driver, is there anything to be done?

Ah well, guess I'll never know why.
Since there's a newer driver available I uninstalled 10.2.0
and installed the newer (10.4.0) driver and now all is well.

Canon had an article on this issue/ could not find it/

Drivers always cause an issue when IT PEOPLE sneak in at night to do a system maintenance/or upgrade /

& forget about the DRIVERS/
It sometimes causes a complete shutdown in companies ? they are quick to blame the poor service tech > while their IT PEOPLE are gone for the weekend
