Canon ir3245 main controller PCB - JP1

What does the JP1 on the main controller PCB clear. Was having trouble with this machine booting to blank screen. Someone responded and told me to short JP1 with power off. After that machine booted and ran perfect. What does this clear? Thanks
Could not find anything is the manual about this.

JP1 on the Main Controller will clear the RTC "registered value", to correct the ID between the Main Controller and RTC Circuit.

It's on same circuit for Battery Back Up (Real Time Clock)

Primary lithium coin cells are commonly used for RTC and memory backup.
