[Misc] IR 2270 network problems!?!? Intermittent.

    Hi
This IR has been in this clients office for sometime. Lately they have said it prints or scans just fine then all of a sudden it doesn't work at all. I am not so good at this network stuff since I am old school. I went to the machine the other day and did some things to see if I could figure it out and just got more confused by all the acronyms. I did take off the back cover and reset some of the ram and other connections and then the machine performed great. 2 days later not so great. My question is how do I figure out if this is a network issue or the machine issue. I believe that the guy who does their IT stuff says he can ping the printer and it shows that it is printing but the machine doesn't print or it may take an hour to print an 11/17. Hopefully one of you young guys can help out an old guy or get me on the right path. Thanks

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    1-Disable the Multicast Discovery setting.
To disable the setting go to:

    Additional Functions>System Settings>Network Settings>TCP/IP>screen 3 of 5>Multicast Discovery=Disable

Power off the imageRUNNER for the changes to update on the machine. Power unit on.

2-what is the firmware version ?
    3-always document what pcb's were removed>re-seated ?
did u clean memory & pcb ends > the re-seat

    4-Update the print-drivers being used
5-Run a 1 & 9 Hard drive check (Defrag) on the Hard drive.
To perform the Hard Drive Disk defrag, hold down 1 and 9 on the key pad and power up the ImageRUNNER. It will take 20 to 30 minutes for the Hard Drive to defrag. When the Hard Drive defrag is finished, DOWNLOAD mode will appear on the LCD display. At that time, power off the ImageRUNNER then turn the ImageRUNNER back on.

6-how old is fuser unit/ parts replaced when ?

Thanks for the help Teckat. I went onsite today and changed the multicast discovery to off and defraged the hard drive. Customer then sent a 11/17 print to the printer and it took about 3 minutes for it to finally print. It was a PDF architectual drawing with a lot of detail. I forgot to get the firmware date. It has to be a least 5 years old. Does this give you any more ideas you can share with me.
      Thanks.

May be you can try this.
Use your laptop with cross cable to connect to the machine and install UFR II driver and print.
Is to check whether the network or that particalur pc or the copier that cause the slow print out. You must identify which is causing the problem.

Could be an IP conflict with a laptop, had similar results with that scenario.

Good call. Unplug the network cable from the copier and ping its IP address. If you get a reply then something else shares the address. Seen this many times. IT people are useless when it comes to printers. Always blame the printer. And, like suggested, laptop with crossover and print to it. If it prints faster, tell their IT its not a printer issue, do their job and fix THEIR network.
