    irc3380 thin line

I am at a loss! We have a irc3380 in the field that has a thin line about 2 inches from the top when copying on Letter paper (see attached but it on this scan it looks like there is a 2nd line towards the bottom of the page, which isn't on the original I scanned in). I changed out the black drum, line still there, then noticed that if I copied on Single Color Cyan the line was there in blue, Magenta...line still there, etc. I have changed out the transfer belt unit (including cleaning unit) and the transfer roller and still the same thin line. Any ideas?

Is there something in the way of the laser slit? Fuser?

Sorry, we did swap out the fuser to test it and we used the blue wand to clean all 4 of the slits, but since it is on all single colors and black I thought I could eliminate the lasers as a possibility.

        1. is problem only when copying?
        2. does the line stop a couple of mm from edge of page?
        3. does it appear on scanned images?

If Yes to above, try cleaning/replacing Contact Image Sensor unit FM2-1563-020

I will try cleaning it, are there Do's and Dont's on cleaning the lamps? Just a soft cloth or can you use alcohol or anything?

soft cloth, alcohol only if you deem it really needed although it should just evaporate anyway. other than gentleness not really.

that bottom line from your scanned in copy ? is line in paper feed direction -----
A thin magenta or cyan line > in the paper feed direction from the scanner on the imageRUNNER C3380 Series.
Bottom Line=Does it only would occur on documents produced by the Reader such as copy jobs and Pull or Push scan jobs.

CCD Unit, clean the lens of the CCD and then run the following adjustments in service mode:

              COPIER > FUNCTION > CCD > DF-WLV1
              COPIER > FUNCTION > CCD > DF-WLV2

The line can be visible either from the platen glass or the DADF during stream read.

              ================================================== ====================

              two different issues

top line does not extend over to non-image area on both sides

bottom line extends over into the non-image areas on both sides

Sorry there is not a line at the bottom, that is the bottom edge of the paper my scanner picked up. The only line I have is the one about 2 inches down from the top of the page. I cleaned the lamps on the CIS but don't see a lens like the old style copiers had. I ran the adjustment under service mode Function.....CCD, the WLV1 said OK but the WLV2 said NG! I ran a P Print and the line isn't there so I know its an "optics" issue.

So a blank sheet off the glass & a blank sheet from DF both have that line which does not move_?

Thank you so much, that was it! Blew out the whole lamp assy, then soft cloth wipe and the line is gone. I really appreciate the help.
