    Drum not set, Insert Drum

    Hi All,
I am working on a canon ir2016. I initially troubleshooted an out of toner problem. But as it went away, a "Drum not set, Insert Drum" message is showing up. I have tried exchanging a different drum unit. All to no avail. Guys please help.

had this before, bit hard to describe without showing a pic, but you can actually cut off a little piece of plastic on the drum, very thin piece on the end which goes into the machine on the right hand side, cut about an inch off and it fits in, no idea why it does slot home but gets you out of a hole

how did you solve the problem of add toner
have you adjusting the variable resistance on HVT
or have you overall the developing tank and change the toner

        Hi Mustertech,
The flat steel plate at the end of the developer assy that presses the spring leading to the the HVT had pushed in. Initially, I pushed it back out. It worked alright. But I rather replaced it with a new one. Most of the time, toner/dust spill can insulate the steel. So anything that blocks the connection to the HVT can give that signal.

As you rightly said, I can't get exactly where you are directing me to trim to solve the problem. Kindly get it clearer. I will appreciate it very much with a picture if possible for you.
