[Misc] Canon IR3045 registration off intermitently

I have a Canon IR 3045 that has this issue where the paper comes out perfect for the first few pages then one of them will have NO lead edge and the image is moved over at least an inch. THis happens with copies from the ADF, the glass or internal prints of the reports or if sent from a computer. It seems to happen worse on the LTR paper but I noticed the lead edge shifted a little on one of the pages on an 11x17 set of copies also.

btw...I just replaced the entire fuser unit & all the feed, pickup & sep rollers last week and had replaced the entire Main drive assembly about 2 months ago.

We have seen this problem before. I stopped the same problem temp by washing out some oil I got in the transfer roller bushings, that lasted temp, passed a big print test.
        Solution:
Problem was solved by replacing the Reg, clutch under the main drive.

Yes, the one you just replaced! That will stop it! Been there done this. I would not be spraying anything in a clutch either. Just replace it. Let this be a lesson. New parts can fail too. If I were you I would hit the books after this is done. Study the process more. All the other stuff should not have been replaced.

I only mentioned the parts that had been replaced in recent months because peopel always ask that when someone posts a question and I was trying to be proactive. I guess I should have been more clear when explaining the parts that had been replaced. I didnt replace them due to this problem, for example I replaced the fuser due to an error code and I replaced the feed tires because of feed issues and I replaced the Main drive assembly because of a terrible squealing noise and the by pass tray did not want to work properly.

This issue with the registration is a new issue that just started and I was just giving a little history on the machine to aid in providing a more complete picture of the machine. The reg clutch was replaced by another tech and the machine has worked fine for a bit and suddenly started this issue and I have never seen a brand new clutch work so perfectly and then die so quickly so I thought I would post and see if anyone else had dealt with this. And I do understand that brand new parts fail also which is why I already have 2 of these clutches on order but it is going to take about a week to get them so I wanted to make sure I wasnt missing something else in the meantime.

Thanks for the reply and the confirmation that I was on the right track

You already replaced reg clutch? Never ever had to change a reg clutch on one of these...ever....I just clean them....and I've never had one be the cause of wandering registration on this model. Check 2 things...1)..make sure the reg actuator is not worn(check if it has metal guide on it...if not and machine has over 200k paper is jumping over it)...or 2) the damper for the reg sensor flag gets a groove in it and the actuator hangs up.

The 3035 is a second Generation Box so the Metal covers on the Flags were stock and should be there.
