    Original Scan glass is dirty

    Hi guys,

    When using the DADF/ADF and the scan glass is dirty, the machine will display a message on the screen. I know you can turn it off under " common settings", but it will still display a message if it senses that the glass or white ref roller is dirty.

    Is there a way in service mode to turn it off completely?

    tks

      any of the Canon IR or IRadv, it can be turned off in user mode under common settings but even when off, it will still appear, was wondering if there was a way of disabling it in service mode, never seen it anywhere.

        Copier>Option>User>SPECK-DP and set it to "0" (default), this will disable the message.

          Thanks for the info, is that in the advanced models only? Just looked on a irc2380 in both levels and couldn't find it. Tks anyway.

            ================================================== ============
            why do u want to disable message ???
            to prevent service calls

            On the new iR C Series machines the SPECK-DP setting has been moved from the service mode section COPIER>OPTION>USER>SPECK-DP to the User Modes COMMON SETTINGS>READ AREA CLEANING MESSAGE.

            By default the message is turned on and the CLEAN GLASS message will appear when the glass is dirty.

            ================================================== ===========
            Service Mode
            imageRUNNER 7200 / 5000 / 6000 / 5000i
            imageRUNNER 2200 / 2800 / 3300

            ================================================== ==========

            imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series

            "Clean Glass" message when no copy quality issues are observed.

            Adjust the following in Service Mode:
            Copier>Option>IMG-RDR>DFDST-L1* and DFDST-L2*
            For backside dust detection adjust Copier>Option>IMG-RDR>DF2DST-L1 and L2.
            DFDST-L1
            Default value 200
            Display/adj/set range 0 to 255
            0: OFF

            Black lines may appear on the image if there is dust. With dust detection correction control, the image is corrected to prevent black lines once dust is detected.
            DFDST-L2
            Display/adj/set range 0 to 255
            0: OFF
            Default value 200

            Black lines may appear on the image if there is dust. With dust detection correction control, the image is corrected to prevent black lines once dust is detected.

            *Adjust these values to a lower number to reduce the frequency of this message. Lowering the values reduces the circuit sensitivity.
            NOTE: You must power cycle the machine for a value change to take effect.

            other iR MODELS may also have this adjustment below

            COPIER > OPTION > IMG-RDR
            >DF-BLINE
            To set ON/OFF of dust detection in DADF stream reading mode
            (measures for black line).When “1: ON” is set, black line is resolved, but sharpness of image
            edge is decreased
            Default value 0

              Copier adjust ccd can help with this

              DF-WLVL1 White level adj in book mode: color
              Lv.1 Details To adjust the white level for copyboard scanning automatically by
              setting the paper which is usually used by the user on the Copyboard
              Glass.

              Use case - When replacing the Copyboard Glass
              - When replacing the Scanner Unit
              - When replacing the Reader Controller PCB/clearing RAM data
              Adj/set/operate method 1) Set paper on the Copyboard Glass.
              2) Select the item, and then press OK key.
              Caution Be sure to execute DF-WLVL2 in a row.
              Display/adj/set range During operation: ACTIVE, When the operation finished normally:
              OK!
              Related service mode COPIER> FUNCTION> CCD> DF-WLVL2
              COPIER> ADJUST> CCD> DFTBK-R, DFTBK-G, DFTBK-B

              also run DF-WLVL2

              This message can also be caused by dirty optics, you may not notice any problems with copy quality but it you open the ccd as per instructions in the SM you may notice dust etc on mirrors.

                Re: Original Scan glass is dirty

                thanks for all the info, the reason I want to turn it off, is that on some machines, the sensitivity sometimes means, doesnt matter how well or how often the scan glass/ref roller is cleaned, the message can come straight back up, i will look at the above settings and see if i can adjust the sensitivity so that it wont appear so often.

                tks again

                  ::::::::::::::::-\
                  Many tech's overlook this cleaning on service calls-
                  Result is a recall :-(

                  Customers need to clean outside read glass & underside of DF White roller or strip.(

                    The Advance slide read glass seems to get ground down easily.
                    If you hold it up to the light you can see a line ground into the glass.
                    If it gets bad enough,. no adjustment will work, you just have to replace it
