    [Misc] iR5055 Fuser

    Canon imageRunner 5055
Is there a way to stop or slow the fuser running in standby or
when the machine is not in use. Can't find it in the manual...

Damn fuser just keeps spinning EVERY 30 SECONDS...WTF!!
    Never notice that till today.
Now i know why my lower fuser roller bearing keep burning out.

Yeah, tried to look at older posts but no luck with this sites search ...

      COPIER > OPTION > BODY > IDL-MODE

Use it to select idle rotation mode for the developing assembly.
0: fix to low humidity mode (off)
      1: environment control (default)
2: fix to normal temperature/humidity mode (idle rotation for 120 sec) (default)
3: fix to high humidity mode (idle rotation for 300 sec)
      4: power save mode

You can adjust the Timer at which the machine goes to sleep mode.
Hit Additional Functions > Timer Settings > Auto Sleep Time > 10 ~ 15 minutes is OK.
In Sleep Mode the Fuser does not rotate.

This machine is designed in the fuser by use of a sunchronising motor, which is supposed to run at given intervals by default. Therefore, there is no way that you can either stop or slow down the running of the fuser. As for the lower fuser bearing,it is a common occurance that i have personally experienced on the
following models;IR5570,5055,5070,6570 as these machines use the same fuser unit.We could possibly refer this problem to the manufacturer, coz the older versions IR5000 to 6000 do not have this problem.

              Re: iR5055 Fuser

The fixing heater of the iR5570/6570/5055/5075 works by heating only a small portion of the fuser roller by induction heating.
Therefore the fuser roller must be rotated at the time the induction heater goes on so that the whole surface of the fuser roller is heated.
To minimize the rotation is to put the machine into SLEEP MODE, when the induction heating is of, the fuser roller stops rotating.

Im still playing around with this problem. Have 3 customers where Ive never had lower fuser problems for 2 years and i have 2 that i have to replace lower fusers rollers and bearings every six months.

                  What bearings are you using?
The latest OEM roller now comes with bearings attached at the factory.
They last a whole lot longer than before
