    canon ir c5185 H! imagepass

i have the discs for reinstalling the software.

can someone give me the correct procedure for re-installation of the software?

i keep getting a message that the install has failed from my laptop.\ im not sure my laptop is communicating

i am using a crossover cable. even tried another cable.

    also tried another hard drive.

dip switches were both in the up position.

    any help would be appreciated.

    thanks!

Can you ping the device from your laptop or a PC to see whether it is communicating. If so you should not have any problems, what you are doing is correct. Make sure the network cable is in the network port of the Fiery and not the printer port.

yes i can ping the h1.

i am reinstalling software because something caused the h1 to never proceed past the waiting screen when i boot up.

      i do show double 00 on the h1 .

i did try both cat 5 ports on the h1 to connect.

i can never get the first cd to load. it starts and then says installation failed.

            2. when i restart, i press the printer tab> press printer status settings > all i get is " wait a moment (check power source of the print server behind the main unit cable connection if the screen does not change in a moment."

            any ideas?

All iR5180 SERIES have a shutdown procedure--

Normal Shutdown always should be used

How to Turn Off the Host Machine

When turning off the host machine, be sure to go through the following steps to protect the hard disk:
                1) Hold down the "control panel power switch" for 3 sec or more. (Top Left hand corner of panel) see pic>

                2) Operate as instructed in the shut-down sequence screen (so that the main power switch will go off automatically).

                5180 CONTROL PANEL.JPG

The Shutdown Mode screen will appear on the machine's LCD screen. It will display the processes currently running on the machine.
                3. Press the Start button on the LCD screen to begin the shutdown process.
                4. Wait until the shutdown process finishes. When it is finished, the following message will be displayed:
'Turn off the main power switch (on the main unit's right side).'
                * Forced Off Option - If the shutdown process is taking too long and you must power down the machine as soon as possible, you can hit the Forced Off button on the LCD screen. This will stop the finishing process of the hardware and/or updating of the device data. The 'Turn off the main power switch (on the main unit's right side)' message will appear almost immediately. THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED. It is best to let the shutdown process finish before powering off the main unit.

                * The newer machines will power themselves off at the end of this process. There is no need to use the power switch on the side of the machine's main body to power down the unit.

                5. Turn off the ON/OFF power switch on the side of the machine's main body to power down the unit.

thanks! i will try it over again using the correct shut down procedure.

what position should the dip switches be in when switching the IMG-CONT back to 0 AND back to 3?

What position should the dip switches be in under normal operating conditions?

                    thank you

In normal position \ unless u are loading or re-loading Fiery Firmware

                    Note:
If set up procedure fails\ i would download the four CD's in a folder on laptop> then try the Firmware install procedure on H1 -
Using the firmware from a folder is the way I always go

Re: canon ir c5185 H! imagepass

i tried the whole procedure changing the img-cont from 3 to 0 to 3 again using the correct shut down procedure.

after i hold down the power button on the machine and tell it to begin shut down procedure it does auto shut down and flip the switch.

but when i reboot there is a screen telling me to press a shutdown button on the screen to shut down the machine again.

it proceeds to shut down and turn off the switch.

then i reboot and still the printer tab says (wait a moment (check power source of the print server behind the main unit cable connection if the screen does not change in a moment.")

maybe this shut down issue is a symptom of the problem.

regardless i assume i need to reinstall the software.

does the software need to be copied to a folder on my laptop to work?

i tried from the disc with no luck.

                              thanks all!
