    Canon W8400 WideFormat

I got a W8400 reading "Print Head Error"

Manual says replace printhead, then carriage relay PCB, then carriage unit, then engine controller, then system controller. In order to remedy problem.

Just wondering if anybody has had this message before and how far they had to go to correct it.

    Thanks

Only time I've had an error like that the locking mechanism had broken for the print head.
No, I will not send you Manuals, Software or your own little repair Genie to fix all your problems for you.

Check to see the firmware version and which print heads you are using. PF03 needs the latest firmware or has random "weird" issues. Other than that, the printheads are only rated for 1 year. Then again, maybe a couple cleaning cycles will clear it up. Seems to me that unless you get the numberic codes (vs a worded error) it should be just a user/operator fix.

Other than the above, just for shits and grins you could call Canon tech support. That way you can learn you are the only person that has ever had a problem of any type ;-)

yes i have it was a pain in the butt to resolve. dont know all the steps or things i did. basically it was the print heads. I ended up doing a head init and a couple of the other things listed and it took off again. it doesn't like it when you swap heads. sometimes it is a bugger to get it to work again. But i think head init is the biggie. Yeah i changed the head relay-pcb and the other one to still have the issue. It ended up i spent $1200 for nothing.
