    IR3045 " jams in morning"

    Recently at an IR3045. Customer said jamming problem. I was there in afternoon and machine was running fine. I ran a couple of hundred pages with no jams. Customer then said that every morning the machine jams consistently and later on it is okay for rest of the day.

    Please give me some of your ideas about this. The fuser unit was changed about a month ago and appears not to be the problem. Any help or advise on questions to ask customer are appreciated. Frank/ActionPhotocopy

    on the right hand side door, there is a black flapper which sits on black pads at each end of the flapper. After time these pads get a little indention that holds the flapper down and causes a delay jam.. you can either remove the pads, or i usually superglue a piece of plastic cable tie over the pads.

      "Copier repair by phone is like trying to put together Ikea furniture without instruction... It can't be done."

      U must have seen how the idiots stack reams of paper in these small box stores/ they stand the reams up or on it's side on shelves {Staples,Office Depot,etc.}

      possible remedy

      Companies pump up too much AC or Heat(in winter) overnight >causes paper sitting in trays or outside a covered container to absorb moisture (especially that cheap recycled crappy paper)>
      High humidity causes damp edges and wavy paper.
      Low humidity dries paper edges and makes it contract and become tight.
      seen this many times with morning jams>

      copier drawers will soak up humidity because the copier drawers are not airtight.

      -either tell them to remove top few sheets>fan paper > use a fresh ream & keep opened paper a covered container.

      Store your paper on shelves or pallets or in cabinets rather than right on the floor to avoid moisture absorption. Choose an area that's protected from extreme temperatures and humidity. Temperature and humidity are critical factors in how paper performs in your copier or printer.

        Pre reg flag damper pad does the same thing. A jam code would help
