[Jamming] iR-ADV C7065 Jamming at fuser exit

We keep getting jams at the fuser exit on this machine, it looks like the paper gets snagged on the sensor roller at the exit of the fuser and accordions the paper inside the fuser. Jam log shows PS74 as the location, jam type 'SNTRY'.

Original thought was building/paper humidity, but now it's occurring more often than the first couple copies from a given paper tray.

Any thoughts as to the cause of this? Getting this jam several times a day.

The exit of the fuser has two shaft rollers, the top one mounted on spring loaded bushings. You may need to clean the bushings, and the silver roller. There is a buklletin on this for a specific jam code, telling you to use lube on the shaft, though I've had more luck with cleaning them, and replacing them next call. This is the exit section that is connected to the fuser itself, that you have to open to remove the fuser top.

I've had the yellow guard off of those rollers before and thought they might be the issue, however wasn't sure this was the cause since the little sensor roller just before these rollers is what seems to be catching the paper (paper is kinked up at the little roller and somewhat wrapped around it leading into the silver and orange fuser exit rollers).

I will try and get a picture next time it jams.

Couple of things I have noticed about this problem...

One - the spring mounted bushings that are mentioned above seem to either stick or flip over on occasion and the roller seizes.

Two - the sensor arm that is in front of the fuser seems to be intermittent. On occasion I have seen the mount actually break from card stock running through it.

Three - the reverse door on the left side of the machine tends to get screwed up sometimes. Sometimes I have to just replace the door altogether to make it a quicker fix. The flappers and stuff seem to work okay and in one or two instances I swapped the door with a showroom machine and the "broken" door seems to work okay on another machine.

Bottom line, in 99% of cases either swapping the fixing base assembly or the reverse door will solve the problem.

I believe the jam codes were 020F or something similar. PS74 is definitely the sensor.

Replacing the fixing base assembly fixed a couple of mine. I think the code 020F was the code I got. It seemed to me as the software updates went the jamming got less and less. I keep the software updated on all of mine.
