Some of these machines are quiet and some have that engine noise to them when ever the ITB is moving or Gradation etc. Most people do not complain about it but some machines can be loud. I don't think changing the ITB will help. What is it exactly that causes the noise? Some drive for the ITB? Has anyone here ever tried to quiet one down ? It sounds like a gear drive noise and similar to the old 2200 main drive assembly noise. Some of those main drives were noisy.

Sometimes u can isolate the noise issue doing a part check in service mode /
Take the guesswork out.
Note:
ITB cleaning blade lubricant is TKN-0480-000

On the under side of the ITB assy are two grey Pads, they get indented and cause the ITB to make a noise, if you have checked the Cleaning assy, you can peel the pads off, flip them and superglue them back down. Noise should go. the pads will be a little bit sticky as you have reversed them, so just use a bit of waste toner to stop them being sticky.Comment

Re: Canon C3080 series ITB engine noise. What can we do about it?
Yeah Thanks for that. The 3080i is a dbf06305 and is way out of the tech pub range. I have a new clean assembly so I can try that and see what I get.
I did go into service mode and ran a toner coat. Had no effect at all on the noise. Its just enough on the edge of annoying. Thanks!Comment

Re: Canon C3080 series ITB engine noise. What can we do about it?
toner coat won't use enough toner to make a diffrence, all thats doing is putting a yellow coat on the 2nd transfer roller.
you want to use the 'clean main unit' function in settings>adjustment/Cleaning>clean main unit
this will coat the ITB in black toner for just over an A3's worth of solid black, it will coat the cleaning blade in the process, if the noise disapaites during the function then you need a new cleaning blade.
alternativly if this isn't the cause, then you may have a loose gear in the main drive assembly, you'll need to go in and have a lookComment

Re: Canon C3080 series ITB engine noise. What can we do about it?
I have found that the Waste Toner Motor (M12) can also generate noise which seems to be amplified through the machine. In Service Mode (COPIER > FUNCTION > PART-CHK), set MTR = 12, then switch on with MTR-ON and you will notice appreciable noise in that part of the machine (front left). A good motor makes very little noise. I tested with the motor right out of the assembly and you can feel the vibration.
Cheers.
