    Canon iR6570 error E602-0102

What does it means? Generally E602 could be service by replace HDD. I was check the HDD by computer use USB to IDE/ATA cable, the computer detected it and said the device working normaly. I see the service manual " 01XX " and refered to Error 602 details. What's the meaning DOSDEV ? Maybe the problem is Main Controller PCB ? If it's true, could the Main controller PCB repaired ? Which segment of PCB ? Thank's before for any advise.

0102=It has been found that by clearing sectors 1,2 and 3 of the hard drive can correct this issue. After clearing the sectors the progress bar will take longer than normal to boot.

    How to clear the sectors.
Enter service mode> select copier>function>system>highlight CHK-TYPE> and then enter 1 then press ok>now highlight HD-CLEAR>then press ok that will clear the sector. Follow the same steps for sectors 2 and 3.

    Enter Service Mode

Copier / Function / System & select HD-CHECK followed by pressing OK key.

This check will count backward from 99% & run for approx. 10 minutes . The results of HD-CHECK will be displayed in LCD

    1. OK

    2. NG { hardware } may need new HD, try HD format 1st.

    3. NG { software } restored / alternative sector } is displayed. Will need to install new system software.

When HD-CHECK is complete run HD-CLEAR in service mode Copier / Function / System then select HD-Clear followed by the OK key.

HD-CLEAR will initialize the partition specified by CHK-TYPE. Once complete you will need to re-boot machine. After clearing the HD the boot process will take longer then return to normal.

6570....HDD has some miles on it if original. They are mechanical and do die. Try the recovery listed and flash with new firmware if it recovers. 4 or 5 years and they get flakey. If its the original HDD it might be wise to replace it if machine is gonna be in the field for a few more years.

Thank's to Mr. teckat and Mr. Canuck. One day after your's reply, I try to serve the problem. The first time, I replace the problem HDD with other good HDD, the machine running normal and ready to copy. So it ensure me that main controller is so good an then I put again the problem HDD to the machine and do clear the sector (service mode> select copier>function>system>highlight CHK-TYPE> and then enter 1 then press ok, highlight HD-CLEAR>then press ok, follow the same steps for sectors 2 and 3). Shutdown the machine and turn-on again, time to boot the HD is feel normal and then the machine go succesfull ready !
Thank's to Mr. teckat and Mr. Canuck ! " Merry Christmas "
