[Error Code] IR C7055 Error Code: E000023-0201 -05 Developing stirring motor (M) error

Hello All. I'm kinda new to this stuff, but pretty resourceful. I've got a used (about 500k) Canon Advance IR C7055 that I bought it at auction recently and it's been performing pretty well. I haven't found anybody within travel distance (Southeast Massachusetts) that will service this production model. Is this strictly a Canon Service product?

I'm running a Black only project over the New Years holiday that's due to be completed on Monday morning and I got an error code "E008 -0001 -05 Title Pressure belt unit life detection error". I did a little searching and figured out how to identify and clear the error and I was back in business. Since then I've now got another code: "E023 -0201 -05 Developing stirring motor (M) error". That one has left me dead in the water. Does anybody know if there's anything I can do to identify and possibly rectify the issue or is this a Canon Service issue?

I look forward to any feedback regarding the specific issue or service in general.

Make sure the bushings in the magenta swing gear unit are not cracked and deformed, this will caused drive from the developing stirring motor to not reach the developing assembly.
This will cause the magenta developing assembly to dump starter and produce the E023 0201.

Also open M developer UNIT up to investigate >see if the toner auger is found broken inside. The Magenta developer part number is FM4-6613-010.

E023 0x01 refers to the Developing Stirring Motor error. On the front of the Developer Assemblies is the Inner Front Door Assembly that consists of the Developing Stirring Motors (M26, M27, M28 and M29) that you pull out and down to gain access to the Drums and Developers.
When the two front left and right cams are down, the mechanism releases the drive gears attached to these motors from the Developer Assemblies. There is a small black release arm on FIGURE 119 #6 that runs along a white plastic cam to pull the rack with the gears away from the developer assemblies. If that Release Arm breaks, then the rack will not push the gears against the front gear of the stirring rods of the developer units when the front cams of the Inner Front Door Assy are cammed and E023 occurs.
The Release Arm on FIGURE 119 item 6 is FC8-2891-000.

E023 -0201 is indicated on the display consistently at power on.


Check and insert the connector at the back side of the Front Inner Door Drawer Assembly [A] properly.


Note:
The best way to access this connector is from the left side. The 2 screws that holding the connector bracket are behind the Primary Transfer HV PCB.

WOW, very thorough and helpful. Thanks! Strangely enough I was able to clear this error and the machine has printed several sheets without a reoccurrence. Since this post I've got the E008-001 pressure belt end of life error at 117% again so I'm thinking I may need to call Canon since I'm a little concerned about my ability to replace that assembly on my own. I have cleared the error multiple times in an effort to limp through the job in process. Are there any adjustments that may extend the life a bit longer and also what's the risk of running the unit as is?

E008-0001 error code refers to the amount of Fixing Motor current that has reached the specified value due to torque-up of the Pressure Belt.

It has been discovered that a seized or broken gear on the Fixing Unit can cause the error code because the specified torque on the Fixing Motor has either increased or decreased. Below is FIGURE 811 UPPER BELT ASSEMBLY with the circled gear and bearing that were found to be defective whether it be a broken gear or a tight or seized bearing.
The gear discovered broken is item 12 with part number FU8-0012-000 and bearings shown in item 15 with part number XG9-0521-000. Of course any broken drive gear or worn out bearing can cause the same problem.

E008-0001 Pressure belt unit life detection error
The amount of fixing motor current reached the specified
value due to torque-up of the pressure belt.
1. Confirm the current value is 80 (0.8 A) and below on the service mode (COPIER> DISPLAY> FIXING> FXMTR8).

A. In case that the current value is “smaller than 80”
A-1. The pressure belt unit reaches to its life -> replace the pressure belt unit
A-2. Faulty fixing unit drive gear -> replace the gear
A-3. Fault fixing motor (M48)

B. In case that the current value is “80 and larger”
B-1. Faulty fixing unit drive gear -> replace the gear
B-2. Faulty fixing motor (M48) -> replace the fixing mtoor
B-3. Fault relay PCB -> replace it

2. Clear the current value log of fixing motor on the service mode (COPIER> FUNCTION> CLEAR> FX-LCLR)
after procedure.

In some cases E008-0001 was still indicating after replacing Upper and Lower Fixing Units, including the Fixing Motor M48.

In service mode under DISPLAY > FIXING > FX-MTR8 the value was at 53. Which, in this case, would indicate that the Pressure Belt Unit has reached its life.


Clearing the current value log of fixing motor on the service mode COPIER > FUNCTION > CLEAR > FX-L-CLR resolved the error code after power cycling the printer.

Current Value (Torque) Flowed Into the Fixing Drive Motor
By monitoring the current amount flowed into the fixing motor (M48), detect the life of the pressure belt unit.
As the pressure belt is worn, the amount of oil inside of the pressure belt decreases so that the frictional force inside of the belt becomes greater.
As the frictional force gets greater, the torque of the fixing motor becomes higher to rotate the drive roller; hence, the current amount (voltage) flown into the fixing motor also
becomes higher. Monitor this current amount and when it reaches to the specified level (warning level), the warning message is displayed on the control panel. As the fixing/
pressure belt is worn further, the current amount reaches to the specified level (error level) and E008-0001 is displayed (a message is also displayed on the service mode initial
screen.)
As a rough estimation, the decrease of the oil amount that determines the life of the fixing unit starts around Pressure Belt Unit (500,000 sheets), (fixing delivered number).
