Paper Catalog is grayed out

I have a strange issue:

On an Imagepass A1 (connected to a 9060 PRO) :

On the copier LCD I register custom media.
In CWS - I can see the custom paper in the Paper Catalog there and everything shows up correctly.

I cannot apply the catalog to any specific job. The "Paper Catalog" is grayed out.

I did check the patches but couldn't find anything.

Ideas ?

On some imagePass servers u need a Production Print Package installed, for the Paper Catalog to show in CWS.
& some servers have the Production Print Package as Standard.

You will be able to verify the installation of the Production Print Package by printing a config page from the imagePass Server and looking at the BIOS area

Have u first set up & saved a Paper Type within the Command Workstation ?

I did try to create custom paper from CWS but I got the failure synchronization message:

For Command Workstation 5.x

1) Open CWS5.x and Login into to Fiery
2) Select Paper Catalog from the Main Menu.
3) Select [Add New].
4) Give the new paper catalog a [name].
5) Select all the options pertaining to that newly created paper catalog for printing.
6) Hit [OK].
7) To verify that the newly created paper catalog is on the copier, select: [Additional Function, System Settings, paper Type Management].
8) Your newly created paper catalog should show up on the bottom of the list or you can highlight Custom from the Menu and it will show up.

The Production Printing Package is installed with Command WorkStation and is enabled on the RIP, if supported. The features are only available in Command WorkStation when the client workstation is connected to the RIP on which the Production Printing Package features have been enabled.

In addition to enabling the Production Printing Package on the imagePRESS or ColorPASS, you must enable Compose with a separate dongle installed on each client workstation where you want to use Compose. Production Printing Package must be enabled before you enable Compose.









How to add created paper types to Command Work Station.

Command Workstation 5:

1. Paper Catalog> check box Display pre-defined engine Media Templates

2. Select paper to add>enter paper size>OK

I did "gang up" some b.cards as an example and on top of them I get "DEMO - DEMO - DEMO" watermark.

As for the Paper Catalog: I managed to create a custom paper (from CWS).

There was a setting in custom paper that was somehow "offending" the Fiery or CWS. That's why I was getting the error.

It was the "luster" option.

In the coming days I will inspect if it was worth the hassle of creating custom paper instead of using build in papers...
