[Misc] C5035 - Finisher Detached - "remove the paper from the output tray" prompt

I just acquired a second-hand imageRUNNER ADVANCE c5035 with the B1 Puncher and C1 Finisher. Unfortunately, the finishers were damaged in transit and are not functional. What settings do I need to change in service mode on the copier to register that the finishers are no longer there? I need to run some test prints into the F1 2-way Tray to ensure that the copier still works.

    The specific error message is:

The internal output tray of the main unit is full.
Remove the paper from the internal output tray of the main unit.
    Thanks!

You have this message because when a finisher is connected, a bridge unit is installed and the bottom flag sensor is removed. You need to remove the bridge unit and install the removed flag sensor. I'm going to assume you don't have a flag sensor, you can block the sensor with some paper, but that might result in a jam if you print to that area.

Jason, the C5035 just uses the 2-way tray as the bridge unit to get the paper to the finisher, but my understanding is that it can work without the finisher attached. As for the flag sensor you spoke of, is it a delivery tray full sensor (PS44/PS45) or some sensor that is literally located near the bottom of the copier to detect attachment of a finisher?

Looking at the manual the sensor would be PS44. Maybe different countries have different set ups, but every external finisher i've installed has had a bridge unit (buffer unit G1 in this case), part of that install is to "Remove the Sensor Flag of the Delivery Tray Full Detection Sensor 1". If you fire up the machine with the buffer unit installed but the finisher unplugged it will think that output tray is full.

service mode > copier > option > acc > intray set this to a 1
Exit service mode and restart the machine
Then go to * function settings > common > output tray settings.

Is the buffer pass still in it?....the two sensors that use flags towards the back of the delivery area need be blocked off by some paper in order for you to bypass this temporarily. Or, do like the others have said and enable the third tray to the right of the top door.

I usually take out the buffer pass and tape some paper jigs into the sensors, that way the machine will just print into the main exit until I can get the finisher back.

Went ahead and picked up the full service manual. The buffer pass g1 is still in the machine and I'm planning on having the time this weekend to remove it and test the sensors. The machine unfortunately does not have the bypass tray installed. Is it sensors PS44 and PS41, not PS44 and PS45 as I thought initially?

                Hi,

Remove theBuffer passy Assy, two screws, 1 connector, behind it and its out. re-install flag sensor FC8-4802 and your done.

remove the two screws as labeled in the pic below, pull the buffer a little towards you then up to un-hook it, be sure to disconnect the buffer pass connector behind the assy before you remove it. Like the guys have said if you dont have a flag sensor to replace, then you will have to block the sensor in some way, but keep in mind that the machine will then believe its tray is always empty and keep delivering paper even if the tray is full and will jam as a result.

just reverse the steps in the manual here. The previous posts are not complete and will cause you some frustration in the end. You are going to need to acquire a new sensor flag and few covers that were removed to install the buffer pass as well.
Accidents don't just happen. They must be carelessly planned.
