    IR7105 "Ready" limited functions (message)

A customer left paper cases to close to the finisher exit trays on a IR7105 during a 2000 sheet run and the lower tray of the finisher hit the objects under it during copying. Then they got an error message and were told to shut down the machine. After they tried powering down and on again they still had the message. The screen showed a button "recover with limited functions", which the customer chose. The machine now works with the message "Ready to Copy limited functions". The finisher works except for the lower tray of 2 that was last used.

Is there a reset to remove the "limited functions" or is there possibly something wrong that when repaired will bring back the full functionality the machine?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

    Hi Skibum!

Go to Additional Functions> Common Settings, then scroll to and select Limited Functions Mode. Change the setting to OFF then press OK.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

If you choose "off" when in common settings/limited function mode the message still exists "READY Limited Functions Mode". The Finisher was the cause because the customer had a stack of paper under the lower finisher tray during a 2000 page print job. The customer could output to only the top output tray and the lower section wouldn't function.

After the customer shut down the finisher and copier, unplugged the equipment and restarted it that the copier began to work from the lower finisher tray again but the message was still there "READY Limited Functions Mode". Now after a week the top tray is the only output tray again and the message never left, "READY Limited Functions Mode".

The finisher must have a problem the machine has detected.

Did u check for tray damage_?

The first thing is to check that limited functions are set to off. Under the limited functions tab now there are two pages for limited function. Be sure to check both pages. It has been found that if you change service mode level 1 Copier>Option>Body TR-SP-C1, TR-SPC2, TR-SP-C3 and TR-SP-C4 and if the value is set to 2 on the paper source you are running, everything will be delivered to tray A. TR-SP-C1 is for the paper type. C1 is for the right paper deck, C2 is for the left paper deck, C3 is for drawer 3, C4 is for drawer 4, MF is for the bypass and DK is for the side paper deck.

Did u inspect that lower tray after accident

                Finisher-V1 / Saddle Finisher-V2

imageRUNNER will display an error code of E542-8001, and will go into Limited Function.
The E542-8001 is normally identified as a fault in Tray B lift motor, or a possible Finisher Controller failure.

One of the steps taken to troubleshoot this error, was to disconnect the Internal Punch Unit-V1. With the punch unit disconnected, the copier came up without the error.
It was then discovered, connector J578 for the punch was not connected correctly. After re-connecting J578, the copier and finisher began to function normally. In this case; why the E542 code would appear is not explained. Normally, this would be isolated to Tray B, or a possible Finisher Controller problem.

Note: J578 is shown as an intermediate connector, on the General Circuit Diagram for the Punch Unit-V1, between the Punch unit, and J115 of the Finisher Controller.

E542-8001= Error occurs only when the Lower Finisher Tray moves down.

This error can be caused by the Torque Limiters for the Tray Motor.
Swap the Torque Limiters with the Upper Tray. If the issue moves to the Upper Tray and an E540 Error now occurs, replace the Torque Limiters.
