Line in Subscan Dir Canon 5570

    Hey Gang,

Haven't worked on this model before. Getting a line in the subscan direction on a Canon iR5570. I have run wire cleaning in both user and service mode and can get rid of line temporarily, but comes back next day. I have changed Primary Charge Assy, Pre-transfer charging assembly, Transfer Separation charging assembly, cleaned Paper path and Dust-proofing glass. I believe its either wire cleaning frequency setting and/or the wiper blade in drum area. Wanted to look at drum but got stuck trying to remove process unit. I removed five connectors, two anchor screws and the drum fixing screw using the rotating tool and the unit moved about a half inch but wouldn't slide out as manual indicated. Ran tight on time and at $2,000 a pop on drum I didn't want to force the issue without checking. Am I missing a step not listed? Do I need to remove hopper assembly? Developing Assy section? Is there another reason line might be coming back so soon? Helpful comments appreciated!

You have to pull the dev housing out. I don't totally remove it...just pull it back a bit so that spacers clear drum. If your drum and upper fuser roll look ok, check for a piece of lint or dust blocking laser light path. The laser writes white on this machine, so if something blocks laser beam, it does not discharge drum in that area and you will get a black line. Pull the process unit out and blow out cavity that laser light passes thru. I have had this issue on these models. Your line is not perfectly straight and uniform so I wold say you have something hanging in the light path(dust bunny). Sometimes you can roll a piece of paper up into a tube and blow into the cavity to get rid of it.

Thank you, Canuck for the fast response. Did not see any issue with upper fuser and cleaning web was less than halfway through. I'm going back Tomorrow so I'll have a better look at the drum area. Nice idea with the paper tube. "I'll be back"
