    [Electrical] ir1730

I went to a ir1730 asking to load paper, even though paper was present in the cassette. I went to the back plate, took out the Size detect unit and the wire loom that connects to the size detect unit had 2 wires broken off from the connector. I tried in vain to press the wires back into the connector but no luck.

I checked the parts catalogue and circuit diagram and on the parts catalogue i can see the wiring that i need, but no part number. Is there a specific way for looking for wiring? Not one wiring part in the PC has a part number next to it.

    tks

    *******
Is this part of a harness_

Some Circuit diagrams used to show color wire description for connections to their male_female connectors.

Service manuals are usually poor directions.

I used to pull of harnesses from strippers, because
Canon assumed these parts would never be damaged,so they never established a part #'s.

What page is your part shown on in PC._?

I might just order the size detect unit and hopefully the wiring will come with it. Thanks anyway.

u mean the yellow signal wires / don't think is comes with wires

on single one side small size connectors/ >
I used to first clean out damaged wire on connector with a exacto knife >then press back in wire that came loose > easy with colored wires u can trace back for eye/continuity check
not so easy with all Yellow wires

            hi Teckat,

yep its the yellow wires alright, i did try pushing in the 2 broken wires, ive done it before on the ir400, but couldnt get this one working...mite need to find a similar wiring connector from a scrap machine and try that, seems strange that the wiring loom doesnt come as a part number...tks for your help anyway...mucho appreciated.

btw whats an exacto knife?? do you have a pic of it, mite see if they are availiable here in ireland, I have a needle like pin thing that usually works pulling out the old wires and forcing the new ones in...but if the knife is easier mite try and get hold of one.

                  X-ACTO Cut All Knife
I use the back reverse side (away from razor edge) to push wire into connector/ need to be careful pushing hard (have cracked some old connectors, small screwdriver can crack connector=result is major headache.
Craft supply stores or WalMart has them/also Amazon X-ACTO #2 Knife/

the snap fit connector is available as a part/ means u need to trace back 5 wires to test continuity on both ends

five wire>from J2241 > to J13L/LH connector in pic ( if able to unplug it)
