    IR 2200

recently our machine got an error code of 602-001 and just what i have read and learned from this forum i tried first to de-frag the unit..both by pressing nos.1 and 9 at he same time...the unit came back to its normal function after the procedures,THANKS! however the users complained that the machine sometimes took a liitle while to make a copy after pressing start button..what could be wrong?can i ask for suggestions?thanks

The hard drive is on it's way out.
Eventually that E602-0001 will turn into an E602-0003 or E602-0004 which is unrecoverable.
You'll either need to source a pre-loaded drive or use Canon Service Support Tool and load the software yourself.

I have iR2200's out in the field that are over 1mil that have NEVER had an E602 and remember...this error code isn't just isolated to iR2200's.
I've had it on 2270/5000/3200's etc etc.
Canon got clever with the iR2270 range HDD though.
They've made the .itf file unable to be edited...so you HAVE to use a genuine drive OR a model that is the same brand as the drive coming out of the machine.

You could edit the Format.ift file and enter your HDD info?

Go to this link as found in another thread of this forum. It was posted by Oze and tells you how to change the ift file using diagrams. Hopefully these instructions help. See http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ca...html#post37276 for Oze's post

System software does not contain HDD information, its the format.ift file that holds this info. Try downloading the Format file from more current models, then edit, cut and past into the IR2200 Format.ift file!

                        Been there...done that(has B.IT from Monash University)
Maybe it's different in the Asia/Pacific region but when you look at the file it's all binary code...nothing at all like a normal .itf file.
