For copy quality to stay consistent when running media heavier than 32lb paper (i.e. 60lb to 90lb) a proper auto gradation using the Heavy 1/2 mode must be performed.
The ideal weight to use for this adjustment should be a 60lb bright white sheet of heavy media.
Never use any type of glossy coated media to do any auto gradations. Media calibrations should also be done on the Colorpass or imagepass units.
Calibration Procedure
1. Clean/Adj optics. Clean/inspect optics and white plate/roller. Perform CCD Adj. Some older machines will be CCD Adj (without paper) and newer machines will be DF-WLVL 1-4 with good quality white paper.
2. Perform Full Auto Gradation. Now that the optics can properly read the data calibrate the copier. Perform this adjustment on the media being used to print onto. Bright white (98-100) 24lb-28lb is recommended for plain paper over using 20lb bond for more accurate color reproduction.
If the customer is using card-stocks perform adjustment on this as well. Generally 32lb-60lb cover is Heavy 1 and 61lb-80 cover is Heavy 2.
3. Calibrate the Fiery RIP. Enter calibration mode on copier through Printer, Settings, Functions, calibration, enter Fiery.1 for the password and press OK. If you do not have a densitometer choose the Standard Color Cal Measurement page method under set-up.
Use a clean Grey Scale positioned in the top center of the letter size portrait area of the platen glass. Press Calibrate and Yes to print the Measurement Page.
Place printed page over the Grey Scale and press Yes and then done to measure. After successful measurement press Yes to overwrite and to it affecting all users.
4. Print out a Test Page and Configuration Page. Under Printer, Print Pages, Test Page the Configuration. After verifying print quality place these with the COMPLETED Service Log attached to the machine.
5. Verify Customer Knowledge on Calibration Procedure. Ensure that the customer is aware of Steps 2 and 3 for increased quality/reliability and service time.**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment

A1 ------imagePass
PS driver or PCL driver ????
PS/UFRII/PCL5e/5c/6 Printer Drivers Version 21.40---see attach pdf
did u look at posted info for "Output from Canon PS RIP is Over-Saturated"
go into A1 and remove calibrations/ then calibrate Printer then calibrate A1 ==use HEAVY 1 for paper type when calibrating both
Graphics and text with identical color values will sometimes appear different based on how the Canon engine and imagePASS, ColorPASS or imagePRESS controllers print different objects. During printing, the engine and controller use different screen combinations on different objects when selecting "Printer Halftone". The "Printer Halftone" setting is configured in the "Image" section of the driver preferences or Command Workstation job properties dialog boxes.
When printing text and graphics using the 600DPI setting on Fiery controllers, the following "Printer Halftone" settings will produce output using the same screens on text and graphics and should produce similar colors:
1. Resolution
2. Gradation
3. Error Diffusion
4. Pattern 1
5. Pattern 2
6. Pattern 5
Using each of these settings will produce different results so it is important to experiment with each to achieve the desired output.
A special case is used when printing text at 1200DPI and color differences between text and graphics may be observed. A screen called Special Error Diffusion is used when printing text objects at 1200DPI and it is the only time the screen is used. When using 1200DPI with text and graphics where matching colors are desired, it is recommended to convert the text to graphic ie. In Adobe products use the Create Outlines option in the Type menu.
This content in this article applies primarily to System 8 Release 2 color controllers and newer. The content may however apply to older controllers including black and white.Attached Files**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**Comment
