    Where can I find the firmware for IR 6020? Is there anyone who share or sell the firmware?

      I've downloaded the latest version of the SST from the SIMS site.

      Q. Can I download firmware and manually add it to the SST? or can I only download the firmware at the point when I connect the service laptop running the SST to the MFD?

      I'm an Canon virgin, but I have a new gen3 imageRUNNER C5550i on it's way that I will need to setup, update and install.

        download the firmware >> then register in SST----u don't need a connection to laptop to register firmware in SST

        if u have a network connection to printer --u can update firmware thru direct connection (no SST needed )

        3 methods for using the CDS to update Firmware and how does it work?


        Method 1:

        The technician is onsite, enters service mode on the copier, selects the updater and has the machine attach to the CDS where the firmware is brought to the machine and the technician may select a version to apply and manually install the firmware.



        Method 2 :

        The Dealer uses imageWARE Remote to connect to the device and schedule a time where the device will connect to the CDS to obtain Firmware. The Firmware will reside on the device until such time as a service technician visits the device and manually applies the Firmware.



        Method 3:

        The Dealer uses imageWARE Remote to connect to the device and schedule a time where the device will connect with CDS, obtain the firmware and apply it automatically without any intervention of a technician.

        **Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.**

                        Machine is displaying a message to "Insert Drum Cartridge" for black even after a new drum has been installed.

                        The
                        problem could be related to a broken, loose, or missing drive drum coupling.
                        In some cases the drum drive coupling was dislodged from the black drum drive shaft.
                        This prevented the drum from rotating and caused the machine to display that the drum was not installed.






                        or-------------------------The conductive bushing on the front side of the ITB assembly for the transfer roller is cracked.
                        This part cannot be ordered.
                        Replace the ITB assembly. Part number FM2-5522-030.

                          DCON v49.01 was introduced to Help Prevent Miscellaneous "Insert Drum Cartridge" Messages in year 2009


                          Procedure:
                          a. Clean the Transfer H.V. PCB (HV2) Contacts.
                          b. Clean the Process Unit contacts to the main frame.
                          c. Upgrade the DCON to v49.01HV contacts.jpg
