    Canon MX-459

When scanning or copying, half of the image that is scanned or copied comes out readable, but the other half is completely black. This happens whether the original is put on the glass, or fed through the ADF. Is the decoder bar the source of this problem, or is something else causing it? Thank you for any help given.

Lift cover, place document on glass, keep cover up,
    Make a copy, watch lamp.
