My machine has come up with three "Check the printer. Call service representative." errors in the past few days. Specifically, the unit has shown error E020 / 0081 and E020 / 104 codes. The P-LED-DA value is 63, so I am hoping that cleaning the patch sensor window will solve it. Could someone tell me the procedure?

Re: [Canon C5051] Procedure for Cleaning Patch Sensor
The shutter needs to open to allow the Patch Sensors to read the image patch on the ITB. The Shutters main prupose is to minimize dusting on the Patch Sensors.
The movement of the Shutter is controlled by SL1 ( Registration Shutter solenoid ) and can be activated via Parts Check in Service Mode.
See link pdf

Note: The Shutter Linkage does not have a part number. You must order the Pattern Read Shutter Drive Assembly FM3-8902-000. See FIG. 321 of the Parts Catalog.
E020 0104 error code on display.
Solution :
Replace patch sensor unit and black drum.
Part numbers as follows: Patch Sensor Unit=FM3-5944-010, GPR-30 Black Drum - 2776B004BA, GPR-31 Black Drum - 2778B004BA
Initialization of patch sensor is necessary. COPIER>OPTION>IMG-MCON>P-ALPHA>Input Patch Sensor alpha value.**Knowledge is time consuming, exhausting and costly for a trained Tech.** -
Re: [Canon C5051] Procedure for Cleaning Patch Sensor
The shutter works fine and after testing it and manually moving it back and forth a few times, the copier has worked for two days without issue. Do you guys recommend that I should proactively replace the Pattern Read Shutter Drive Assembly since the current one seems to bind/jam?Comment
