[Misc] Canon IRC 2380i - Laod Paper (A4)

Hi All,

Have a strange issue i haven't come across before. The Irc2380i asks to have A4 paper loaded but 3 of the 4 cassettes have A4.

The documents original is A4 as well from the pc.

As soon as you print it comes up in the status monitor, sez please load paper type below (A4) and lists 3 trays with A4, which if you select any, it prints.

It happens to all the users that use the device, say 15 users or so.

Any ideas will be much appreciated.

is the requested paper weight the same as in the cassettes?

As stated,check that paper loaded is the weight that the print job asks for also. Also what kind of document is it? I have seen instances that the paper tray is defined in Word and it will over-ride the driver(even if you tell it to print from a different tray in paper source in the driver). If its a Word document go into page options and check

It is a strange one everything as it should be. the driver settings, paper is normal 80gsm plain A4. Get this a lot here when it asks for LTR paper size as our standard is A4 and you get passed it by override, but its strange that it has three cassettes of A4 and still wont pick it up automatically.

I have upgraded firmware and that didnt change anything.

I will look into the settings of the user and the settings in word, ill let you know what i find.

if you send LTR, but you have only A4, and there is no pickup, you must Change this device-setting here:

Paper Size Override from off to on.

The problem is it is asking for A4 and has A4. 3 x cassettes of it.

The override is set to on. Since our standard is A4 we get a lot of load LTR issues, so we usually set all our machine to have override on to avoid these issues.

I will try get a screen shot of the issue later today

I would go with the document settings set for a certain tray... more than likely in the template for the document. Also if it is pdf documents say printed with adobe reader check that the check box print using pdf page size setting.

It wants paper in the bypass tray....the one lit up blue

Its more than likely set in the document template to select from that tray

Exactly...the document is specifying it wants paper in the bypass tray......

That's exactly my problem, it comes up, even if i print a test page, specifically asking it to print from tray 1, 2 & 4.

Ive reinstalled drivers, used different pc's, including my own laptop, and it comes up randomly, I would say 7 out of 10 print jobs.

Could it have something to do with the image processor or firmware, because as i said above Ive checked, rechecked and checked again that the settings are as they should be. I have even set paper size override to on as we get load LTR issues from time to time, as our standard is A4 and not LTR.

If it was a settings issue it would have come up by now as the client has had the device for over 4 years and printed over 500 000 pages.
