Waste ink absorber full

Hi Guys,

I know that this models are quite dated out, but i have quite a few of these Canon Pixma ip's 1000, 1300, 1700, etc and all have the same problem of waste ink absorber full, referring to the catalogue it says that waste ink absorber has to be replaced.

Can someone plis tell me any other way to try and get rid of these error codes other than replacing the ink absorber, or do i need to order the ink absorber?

If it says out of paper do you put it toilet paper?
The aborbers are full and dry.
