KM C1060L life span and service intervals vs c5501

    Hi to all,

We have c5501 for 6 years and more less it runs perfect. Service intervals are as following: Drum units and developers - 150.000, charging coronas 75.000, transfer belt and transfer rollers 150.000, fusing belt and rollers 300.000, developing units 600.000. So our experience is that now and then you have to change drum or transfer belt during mechanical damage and 2 times we had to change developing station.

Now we decide to buy c1060l in same configuration but when I got service manual I noticed service intervals are increased as following: Drum units 410.000, charging coronas 160.000, transfer belt and transfer rollers 400.000, fusing belt and rollers 600.000, developing units and developer 1.200.000

So, if anybody have some experience with new generation of Konica Minolta pro machines it would be great to share. From my experience about 200.000 copies but in printing full coverage quality will degrade significantly, but maybe they did something revolutionary

Please write your opinion and share your experience.

    Thanks,

    Milos

      Hi,
The biggest change between the two machines is the developing life.
They have implemented "Auto Refining" (same tech as the office colour range). There is a certain amount of developer in the toner bottle so it keeps replenishing the developer. This is the reason that the developer now last approx. 1.2mill.
      Cheers

advantage: c1060 have a great registration on both side it is perfect even on 300g/m2
disadvantage: background caused by the developer in the toner bottle. try to test it on the test pattern 55 gradation K 255 on coated glossy paper 135g/m2 and check if there is a gray background
lines in CD direction. try to test it on test pattern 53 gradation K 130 on coated glossy paper <220g/m2

I work on all the Pro Print KM's. If you don't have problems w/ the 5501 stay with it. Much better running than anything newer.

Thank you for opinion, but I already got C1060L in my hands, and can confirm that you are right. This new machine seems to have much more wax in toner that causing prints to look shinny that I don't like and try to avoid, other thing is RIP that KM definitively did not completed as product. Other issue is when you print A4 in duplex on 80gr plain paper old c5501 takes 4 sheets and drive it trough machine and prints and new one only 2 by 2 and when A3 is printed only 1 sheet at a time is brought in to machine instead of 2 with C5501.

I think I am going to return the machine......or they will change something fast....

Drums don't seem to go life. I've seen between 50-80% of the projected life. Have had issues with collar on the LFR breaking as well.. on multiple machines.

Other than those couple of things they seem to be pretty solid.
