You will need to replace the chip in the IU to get more life on these older models.

Not sure what a "chich switch" is, but fixthecopier is right. You have to replace the chip on these UIs in order to extend their lives. Don't expect a huge amount of extra copies on a re-chipped IU. Also, I have found if you can re-chip them before the replace message appears they tend to last longer after re-chipping.

I have had chipped IU's go another complete cycle. Seen a couple of them chipped twice.

I have had them go another complete cycle as well, however, that certainly isn't the majority. In fact in my experience you can expect anywhere from 5K to 20K copies after re-chipping the IUs on a C250/252.
