Here is a blast from the past, a pre merger, minolta branded di2510.

This might not be unusual to see for some people, but where I live support is totally discontinued for it and all parts are NLA.

The owners of this machine are so deeply in love with it they cant bear the thought of parting company with it.

13+ years old and still going strong having never missed a beat, although it does have a very low page count indeed.

I'm not sure I can guarantee this kind of longevity out of any products made today to upgrade them. Its still going though, perfectly, so its a very hard sell!

It is not my most ridiculous meter reading ever though, my lowest active machine meter reading was 13k on a c450 when it was sent for recycling recently. Never even plugged into a network its entire life, just used as a stand alone copier.

My lowest inactive machine meter reading going for recycling is 0 - several kept on the shelf for 7 years as a hot swap machines and never used, bizhub 250's sent for recycling.

I really hate customers that have an expired machine and refuse to upgrade. Usually starts off with them thanking you for being able to fix their dinosaur of a machine. Then when you can't get anymore parts for repair they end up with another dinosaur of a machine that you don't repair.

You'll find ways and means to keep them going if needed.
Konica Minolta DI2510 Toner, Parts, Supplies, and Accessories found these supplying parts,
also eBay search yields some results: minolta di2510 was the search i did.

Some customers will refuse to upgrade as if something has work so well for so long why change it, it's not a reason to hate them but it's part of the job of a real Service Engineer to engineer solutions to problems and keep things running, otherwise the job title should be 'just changing big lumps of a machine for a living technician'

Nothing new to me, we have some of these still running, last call, one of them needed the registration bushings and a new registration clutch

I love when your company keeps the dinosaur running for year beyond it's natural life and when it finally dies the customer goes with a different dealer because "our last machine just had so many problems and the techs were out constantly"

The old adage sometimes you have to fire your customer is true.

hourly only calls here for those. people pay it though. easy machine to work on. they use the same engine in quite a few models so parts are pretty easy to get still.

Did last week an EP-1080 with 60K on the clock. Owner is 93 years old and not willing to upgrade........ lol

Some of our sales guys would see no problem signing up a 93 year old onto a 5 year lease.

Some customers have that mentality that a copier is like any appliance, if that can be maintained for 20 years and it still "works" fine. So why upgrade? Generally this comes from older generations that grew up differently..

Absolutely!! EP450Z, one of the best copiers ever made! Worked on those for many years when I first started in 1988. Nobody ever wanted to get rid of them.
