    Pi8500 BIOS

I'm working on a Di850 with a Pi8500 Fiery controller. The controller refuses to boot up, showing only "04.07.93" on the display.

According to the service manual, this is either faulty memory or a faulty BIOS. I've already checked the memory, but I can't locate a new BIOS chip anywhere. It doesn't come with the motherboard, and there's no part # listed for it. There are also no junked controllers available to strip it from. Any ideas where I can get one from?

i believe you have to contact Fiery directly. usually the BIOS is on the motherboard. but you have to order the motherboard directly from Fiery. They install the special BIOS themselves. if you try to buy a mother board aftermarket it will not have the right bios and will not work correctly with the OS on the HDD of the fiery. good luck

That's what I figured, but I can't find a vendor support phone # for EFI, just their regular support # that charges $200+ for the call.

well, if you call Konica they have a parts ordering line... they can help you find a part number there.
