    Help with L-detect Error

I just changed out only the Black Developer on a KM 8050, because it's page count was twice that of the CMY...

As usual, I did an "Automatic developer charge for K" only in Mode 36

    No problems there

Then, I went to do the "L-detect initial auto adj K, Conduct K only"
Pressed Start and the screen says Error. tried it again, still says error.

I checked the Density Sensor's connection and it is tight.

So now, I am thinking of replacing the Toner Density Sensor on the K Developing Unit. But was wondering if anyone has a different suggestions before I do. This machine is NOT throwing any Service Codes.

What a stinkin' way to end my Friday, I'm going out for a beer.

Did you remove the lid of the developer tank? If so the shims that keep the lid at the right hight have fallen out and you will have to replace the tank. If not try swapping the toner sensor with one from another tank. Either way I think your looking at a tank swap.

Oh yeah if it comes up with error without even trying it isn't the toner sensor. Try and get a copy out first then do the l-detect.
