    C227 / +227 duplex noise

Having an issue with a +227, the develop equivalent of the c227. Customer has complained that the machine is too noisy when duplexing, I installed the recommended firmware 'GGD-84' which solved the noise issue but also threw up a C9401 scanner code. Spoke to develop and they said to install the latest 'GC2-W4' firmware which I did and this solved the scanner error code but the noise / speed of the duplex went back to how it was originally.

Develop are looking into it at the minute but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue or knows any other way to lower the duplex speed?

    Thanks

Are you sure that noise is gone when lowering duplex speed. This just isn't sound right, to solve one issue with another (downgrading machine specs) 😒

Yea they brought out a bulletin because there were quite a few reports of customers complaining about the noise on switch back. They started lubricating it but had to bring a firmware out to slow it down.

Once I loaded the firmware the customer was much happier with the noise and wasn't too bothered about the drop in speed, though I could only get it to print with the scanner section disabled because of the 9401 error!

They compared the noise to other models and there wasn't much difference -

I think your machine has new style CCD and needs newer than XXX-84 Firmwares to resolves firmware mismatch giving C9401.
Besides of that, it's recomended to install firmware version G00-84, prior to installing special firmware version GGD-84.
Late will try to dig deeper.

Thanks for the advice think it is to do with it having a new CCD, tried the firmware on a 227 in our office and It's doing the same thing.

Called develop today and they said they'd have to contact Japan about it because they haven't heard anything back from Germany, and that it's unlikely they'll do anything because It's not a common problem they're having? Not really sure where to go from here apart from a pair of ear muffs?

Found how to resolve this issue now - First load the latest W4 firmware then turn on Dip switch 52 in service mode.

This makes the duplex much less noisy but does reduce the speed so only turn on if noise is an issue.

Is that Engine FW DipSW 52?

I did turn on SW 52 in a C227 with fw ver GC1-W4 but I didn't notice any differnce in speed or noise.

I've tried it on 2 machines with GC2-W4 firmware and both worked for me. Make sure to set software switch 25 to B0 after loading firmware then reboot machine, after that go into enhanced security to select dip switch 52 then reboot afterwards. The switch back on duplex should be noticeably slower and quieter.

Now I have tried also with FW ver GC2-W4/function ver 4.2 on a C227, but I still can't notice any effect by Engine fw dipsw 52. I don't know what the problem is.

Did you shutdown and restart the machine after dipsw52?

No, but I have done that now and it works!
