Belt for C500 - is it new?

    Hello!

I have a C500 and CF5001, and in my country official minolta dealer have not parts for this copiers - so i order it in USA or UK.

some weeks ago i order new belt, but in box was belt, packed only in 1 sheet of paper and with damages.

    here the photos:

but later i look some info and found, that belt really packed in box with only 1 sheet of paper, with no other packing matherial. can bad packing be cause of those damages or belt is definitely used?

    Thank you very much!

    Hi,

This is usually how these belts are packed. If it were used then you would see damage on the edges of the belt or build of toner on the inside. Tell tale sign maybe extra layers of cellotape on each end of the box?

The belt is VERY easy to damage but I have never had one damaged from out of the box. If you have one that has marks and dents this is unusual.

However I guess you need this to replace the belt in one of your machines? do you have all the other rollers? If you do not replace all the rollers inside the belt at the same time this belt will not last very long.

      Hello, thank you for anwer!

old belt was near new and damaged accidentally.

copiers purchased recently, in good condition (140 000 and 640 000 pages) and working in print office (typography - how it will be in english?), for december every copier done about 50 000.

what spare parts do you recommend to have in stock?
i already have drums and developers, and already order PMs 100 and 200.

drums are Katun (not installed yet), toner is not original, in 10 kg bags - i have to work with very low price.

      Thank you!

PS is new belt have absolutely gloss, polished surface, or surface with numerous thin parallel lines, like on second photo?

The belt should look like a brush polished surface that is slightly helical. There should be no lines going across the belt. If you have orderd the 200k kit you should have a belt in that.

If you have a 100k kit, 200k, 4 x drums and a set of developers you have all you require to maintain this machine. I suggest you leave the fuser web out of the fuser.

Surface on photo looks like new?

Yes, i already remove web from the fuser - with not original toner it become dirty too fast. maybe with original toner too - but i not using it and don't know.

Also i remove paper separating claw from belt - i read, that it damages belt - leaving "lines" on the belt surface and this lines can be seen on prints.

The paper separating claw from belt are useful only if you're using low weight paper. I know the story with the lines on belt from the separating claws but from my experience I can tell you that these appear after a large number of prints and usually the belt dies from other causes before the lines appear.

compatible toner works not very good on thin papers - minimum paper with no problems is 80 g for office paper and 115 g for coated paper.

one belt already has those lines and claw was removed, so i remove the claw from another belt.

Are these lines appearing on prints?

only one - from one claw.

another two are visible on belt but not visible on print.

i remove belt, turn it around and install - and line moved from one side to another, it is a proove that line is on the belt, not on the rollers or somewhere elese.

after that i install belt as it was before and start to print and wait for new belt :-)
