Calibrating IC-304 with densitometer

I am having trouble calibrating an IC-304 using a densitometer. i always get the following message "measured density is below minimum expected values".
i have re-calibrated my C6500, i have swapped out the densitometer, the creo is up to date as per firmware and patches, i have taken the machine back to factory settings and re-calibrated, i have tried to increase the denisty, i checked DPSW 23 Bit 5 which is at 0 to enable, i am running out of ideas. does anyone have any? the customer has had this machine for over a year and has only started having this trouble recently. the machine only has about 370K on it.

You have done the gamma sensor calibration for each screen?

If this passes you either have a faulty gamma sensor or the density is correct and your creo needs a reload.

Are you using a DTP32 or eye-one? Both have a calibration strip to calibrate the tool you should try this.

Also the machine would have come with a color scale so you can calibrate off the glass. You should try this also and see if it works.

Recalibrate your densitometer. Your Creo should have come with a calibration strip for the densitometer. If you have the strip, then I believe you hold down the button on the densitometer for a few seconds and the lights will change color, then you can scan the calibration strip.

After you successfully recalibrate the densitometer, then try calibrating the Creo.

A small percentage of the first run of C6500s had a defective gamma sensor. The Fiery calibration graphs showed a drop off and the Creo controllers just reject the calibration - like you explain.

Serial number below somewhere around the 500 mark were affected. Has the machine got a low serial number....get a new gamma sensor.

thanks for all your input. i have tried EVERYTHING that was suggested here EXCEPT Setright's . this was a fairly new 6500 so it may indeed be the sensor. the serial number is A03U010001796. not sure if this one falls into that range.
the customer is using a DPT32. we even sent calibration sheets to our tech support to be tried on another DPT32 and got the same results...making me think OK it has to be the machine. i am going to order a new sensor regardless. thanks again

Ok well it must the engine. The serial number cut in for the sensor is 400 so you are well over that range. Interesting to find out what your fault is.

We also had a customer with the same problem of low density. We calibrated the densitometer and copier with no answer. We switch to a different paper and problem resolved.

That's funny you mentioned the paper as that was what i had just been thinking about too. i'm going to take some of our 28lb Hammermill there and try it using that.

Check that all your cables are pushed in correctly. If you still continue to have issue try doing a reload of the Creo using the Fast Install DVD.

Its your paper. I've had the same problem with my Creo account. He was using some off brand paper. when we calibrated with paper from the media guide, the problem went away.

Thanks for the all the input on this problem. I finally solved the problem by replacing the PGC sensor. Everything worked like a charm.
