Without details on the status of the printer, it is difficult to come to a conclusion.

But I can tell you what often happens:
    1. Non-OEM toner.
    2. Some consumables are at the end of their life and need to be replaced. If you don't replace, this will cause shorts and defects like your case.
    3. HEPA filter to be replaced or clogged.
    4. HV Defective electronic board.

Nasty ain't it. Had this before where my only guess would be that the IU' was installed poorly and that the HV was shorted on not making contact. It will throw all the developer out in minute or so. Also had it where toner collected on the grid plate and caused the developer to leave the tank. The drum unit in that case was way over yield.

Where I have had this I made sure to vacuum out ever last bit of developer from the machine. Installed new developer and a chip to reset it and work well after that.

Proper recommendation would be to replace both the drum unit and the dev unit.
        Whatever

i guess he is in Hanoi ( wonder if Jane Fonda knows him ) and probably an end user that isn't getting any help from locals.

gain? I don't know ... but we run into a lot of them here... some are senior techs.. I don't think I have to mention any names like CA and Bsm2
